Singapore Sling - Is this better than the Raffles Hotel version?!
This version varies greatly to the original one said to be served at the Raffles Hotel with the key difference being the exclusion of pineapple juice!
This is replaced with a fair measure of soda water and allows the spirits and liqueurs to shine and not be hidden away in a wave of sweet juice.
I suggest to try both versions and let me know your favourite! :)

How To Make The Singapore Sling
Today on Booze On The Rocks, we make the Singapore Sling cocktail served at the Raffles Hotel. Created by Chinese-born Ngiam Tong Boon in 1915 at the Long Bar in the Raffles Hotel, the Singapore Sling has passed the test of time. Although there are now, many versions found all over the world. Gin, Grand Marnier, cherry liqueur, herbal liqueur (typically Benedictine), pineapple, lime, bitters, and club soda are the main ingredients in this complex drink. The recipe was first made public in Harry Craddock's masterpiece The Savoy Cocktail Book, released in 1930. It became the subject of subsequent recipes, and by 1948, David A. Embury claimed in his book The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks that no two published recipes were identical. The Singapore Sling is sophisticated, subtle, and ingredient-heavy at its best. It also begs for investigation, and s s a result, broad notes and nostalgia serve as the foundation for most traditional cocktail variations. Many contemporary variations tend to be excessively sugary beverages that depend more on grenadine and pineapple juice than on herbal liqueurs and fresh citrus. This recipe is as authentic to the original as one can make it. Try it out and let me know what you think.

Singapore Sling Cocktail Recipe from the Raffles Hotel, Singapore
How to make a Singapore Sling
Cocktail recipe:
The Singapore Sling is a variation on a classic Gin Sling and was first created around 1915 at the Long Bar in the Raffles Hotel, Singapore.
And again, there are many different recipes and opinions on how to make the perfect Singapore Sling but this is one of my favourites.
Take note that the recipe calls for cherry brandy - I'd recommend using Cherry Heering (a deep red cherry liqueur, sweet and a more natural cherry taste) or kirsch (a clear coloured cherry brandy, slightly bitter due to the pitts that are also used).
Marashino liqueur will impart less cherry flavour, a few herbal notes and some slight bitterness.
I mention in the video that the maraschino liqueur was sweeter, when in fact the Cherry Heering is...my bad!
Can Cherry Heering, Kirsch and Luxardo Maraschino be substituted for one another? Find out...
