How to make delicious, moist Apple Cake
Apple Cake is enjoyed in many different ways around the globe – but few have the delectable moistness and appeal of this version.
The recipe demonstrated in the video, is set out below. Like others I've shared – this is also reliable, quick and easy.
Why not give it a try?
INGREDIENTS:
(Cake mix)
1 cup of flour 3 tbsp of melted butter 3 eggs 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 1 cup sugar 1/4 cup milk 3 apples (Golden Delicious).
(Sauce)
1 cup evaporated milk 1/2 cup sugar 1 tsp vanilla essence 20 ml (0.68 oz) rum
Method
- Peel the apples - Cut into uniform slices and steam over low heat for approx. 10 mins - Drain and set aside - Cream the melted butter and 1 cup of sugar - Add the eggs to the sugar/butter mixture - When smooth, add baking powder and salt - Continue whisking, gradually adding the milk and flour and ensure uniform mixture - Fold mixture into a greased oven-proof baking tray - Place apple slices evenly over the top of the raw cake mix - Bake in a pre-heated oven (180 c / 350 f) for 20-30 mins
- Heat the evaporated milk, vanilla essence, 1/2 cup of sugar and rum in a pot until almost boiling – stirring regularly - Pour sauce mixture over the cake (while still hot), and allow to spread evenly over the top - Allow to stand for about 15 mins, cut into squares and serve (ideally with vanilla ice-cream)
