2 1/2 tb Licorice root, chopped 1 1/2 c Vodka 1/2 c Sugar syrup (see recipe) -to taste Wash the licorice root and chop into small pieces. Add to vodka and steep for 1 week. Strain and filter. Add sugar syrup and steep for 1 week. Ready to serve. Adjust taste with extract if necessary. Yield: 1 pint plus Container: Quart jar

How to make Licorice liqueur at home
INGREDIENTS 100g pure licorice 120ml water 600 g sugar 1l pure alcohol
METHOD 1. Cut the licorice into pieces. Places in a jar. Add water and let stand until dissolved. 2. Pour sugar into a pot of water. Let it dissolve. 3. Let it cool. 4. Add the licorice liquid and mix well. Add the alcohol and mix again. 5. For me, Liquorice Allsorts are the pinnacle of nostalgic Kiwi / New Zealand lollies (candy for you Americans). So lets see if we can make a boozy version to enjoy as adults. Licorice Allsorts Liquor!

This is what I did (although I think you should be flexible and do everything to your taste instead): 150g (5.3 oz) orange allsorts cut 300 ml (10 fl oz) 60% abv vodka Orange peel . .. . . or not . . .
Let macerate for 24 hrs. Strain / filter
Proof down and sweeten to taste. I proofed to 35% abv and added 17.5 ml (0.6 fl oz) simple syrup
