Now, before you write me off as just plain crazy, let me convince you! It's really true that after making it a few times, pie crust becomes second nature. In fact, I always keep a few in my freezer, just in case. When I want to make a pie, I simply pull one out, make a filling, and bam! I have a pie! (And you can too!)
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
6 tbsp unsalted butter
4 tbsp shortening
5-6 tbsp ice water
Instructions:
- In a food processor or by hand, mix the flour, salt, and sugar. Add the butter and shortening. I love an all-butter pie crust, but a little shortening improves the flakiness and prevents shrinkage.
- Pulse the processor until the butter is coarsely mixed in with pieces no larger than 1/2.”
- Add water and pulse until the dough holds together and chunks of butter still remain.
- Pour out onto plastic wrap and press together to form a solid mass. Wrap in plastic and form into a disk and chill for 15-20 minutes.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 12 in diameter for a 9 pie plate. Constantly move and turn the dough to ensure it is not sticking.
- Once in the pie plate, store in an airtight container in the freezer. Or continue with a recipe to bake a pie.

1. Chicken thighs - 5 pieces
2. Salt, pepper.
3. Potato - 5 pcs
4. Carrots - 2 pcs
5. Garlic - 3pcs
6. Bow - 1 pc.
7. Parsley - a small bunch
8. Butter - 50 gr
9. Honey - 80 gr
10. Sweet chili sauce - 80 gr
11. Soy sauce - 50 ml
12. Mustard - 1 spoon
Cooking process: ????
- Sprinkle thighs with salt and pepper
- Cut large potatoes
- Coarsely chop carrots
- Fry the chicken thighs in a frying pan in butter on each side for 5 minutes.
- Finely chop the onion, garlic and parsley.
- Remove the thighs from the pan and put the potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic and parsley into the remaining oil.
- Fry 10 minutes
- In the meantime, in another pan, mix honey, sweet chili sauce, soy sauce and mustard.
- Place potatoes in a baking dish. Put the chicken thighs on top and pour over the honey sauce.
- Bake in the oven for 40 minutes at 180 degrees

In this Pottery Barn video, Chef Burroughs gives us interesting party food ideas and also presents these brunch food recipes to help us make these dishes at home.
Showing us how to make two of his favorite pizzas, he tells us that at Turnbull Wine Cellars, pizza dough is made about 48 hours in advance. Pizza dough can also be bought from a local pizza shop or grocery store. A helpful tip is to keep all the necessary ingredients ready and close at hand.
He cuts a bunch of asparagus on the bias, into 2-inch pieces and discards the roots. Then, he dusts the peel with flour, places the dough on the peel and shapes it into a square. By pinching off a quarter inch of the pie at the edge, he creates a lip on the crust.
Next, he applies a thin layer of olive oil followed by tomato sauce. Chef Burroughs shares a tip for these brunch food recipes and tells us to keep the layer of tomato sauce thin so that the dough doesn't become soggy. Then, he sprinkles some cheese, artfully arranges the asparagus and lays long prosciutto strips across the pie. Finally, he adds two farmhouse eggs on top.
Then, he slides the pizza into the oven and bakes for three minutes. He takes out the pizza, sprinkles on a bit of freshly cracked pepper, cuts it and transfers it onto the serving platter. The best part about these party food ideas is that you don't have to bother about perfection. Knowing that the dishes are homemade will add to your guests' enjoyment of the meal.
Presenting another of his brunch food recipes, he shows us how to make a smoked salmon pizza. He adds a layer of creme fraiche and dollops of cream cheese to a baked pizza base. He arranges the smoked salmon in curls like a blossoming tulip and garnishes with chives, capers, freshly scrambled eggs, chopped dill and cracked black pepper.
