This is a very tasty dish that is a staple dish in every luau. No matter what part of the world you're in, you can make lau laus close to the authentic ones in Hawaii. The only thing missing is the luau leaves and tea leaves. You can use spinach, collard greens or kale and use bamboo leaves or foil for the wrapper. In this video I explain the simple steps so you can make your very own lau laus tonight! I guarantee you'll be making this just like the pros and one day you'll have your very own luau....just don't forget to invite me..LOL-or at least let me know how it turned out.

2 bags Kalo (taro) leaves 1-2lbs each
1/4 cup hawaiian salt
2 uala (sweet potato) bite size
3-4 lbs pork shoulder/butt bite size
1.4 lbs pork fat (I used fatty pork belly) bite size
Layer a few kalo leaves (a few small or 1 big and a small) put a few pieces of pork shoulder and 1 piece of fat, 1 piece uala, sprinkle hawaiian salt and 6-8 pieces of the hā (stem). Roll laulau up tight and then roll it tight in the foil.
Pressure cook for 2 hours or until laulau leaves are cooked all the way through & fat is melting. or steam for 3-4 hours. make sure the leaves are cooked thoroughly or youll end up with itchy throat/tongue.
Crock-Pot LauLau: Super easy alternative when you don't have taro leaves
Here's a really simple variation of laulau that taste just as good as the real thing.
Ingredients:
Collard leaves (rinse and remove stem/spine)
Pork Butt (cut into 2 inch chunks and coated in sea salt)
Mangrove Snapper (Most white meat fish should work...the fresher the better)
