Checkerboard Cookies
Checkerboard cookies are soft, buttery and crumbly which is double coloured vanilla and chocolate flavoured. You might think it is complicated but it's not! The cookie dough is so simple to make and it's all about assembling the cookie dough to get the appearance of the checkerboard. The end product is so appealing and delicious.
INGREDIENTS:
For Vanilla Dough
# All purpose flour - 100 g
# Butter - 50 g
# Sugar - 2 & 1/2 tbsp
# Egg - 1/2 of one beaten egg
# Vanilla essence - 2 drops
For Chocolate Dough
# All purpose flour - 85 g
# Cocoa powder - 15 g
# Butter - 50 g
# Sugar - 2 & 1/2 tbsp
# Egg - 1/2 of one beaten egg
# Vanilla essence - 2 drops

INGREDIENTS
Butter 125g
Icing Sugar 65g
Flour 150g
Milk powder 25g
Egg 3 tbs
Lemon essence 1/4 tsp
Cocoa powder 2 tbs
INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
2. Add the egg and lemon essence, mixing until well combined.
3. Add milk powder and beat for a while.
4. Add flour and mix to form a smooth dough.
5. Split the dough into two equal parts. Leave one part as is (the plain dough). To the other part, add cocoa powder and make chocolate dough.
6. Take each dough and shape them into rectangular logs of equal size. Ensure the logs have the same dimensions to create uniform cookies.
7. Cut each log lengthwise in 3 equal parts and Swap the middle dough. Then Slice each set lengthwise into 3 pieces and swap the middle dough again.
8. Wrap in plastic wrap again and cool in the freezer for about 15 minutes to set and chill.
9. Once the dough is firm, remove it from the fridge. Using a sharp knife, cut the cookies. You should see the checkerboard pattern in each slice.
10. Preheat your oven to 180°C. Place the cookie in pan, leaving space between each cookie. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the edges turn slightly golden.
11. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
12. Admire the beautiful checkerboard pattern in your deliciously baked cookies, and savor each bite!
* if at any step you dough turns soft and sticky then keep it in refrigerator for a while.

Homemade Checkerboard Cookies
Two blocks make 18 cookies + remaining from both ends.
Plain Cookie Dough:
Plain dough:
5 tbsp soft butter
3 tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla sugar (1/2 tsp vanilla extract)
1 small egg, beaten.
1 cup cake flour, sift.
Cocoa dough:
5 tbsp soft butter

2 tbsp cocoa powder, sifted
1 cup cake flour minus 2 tbsp

Today you'll learn how to make Checkerboard Biscuits ???? Recipe By Chef Hafsa
you'll need following ingredients to make these yummy biscuits
150g butter 2/3 cup
100g icing sugar 3/4 cup
1 pinch salt
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 egg
2 tbsp milk powder
250g flour 2 cups
make the dough as mentioned in the recipe video
then divide dough into two parts
then add 1 tsp coco powder or more if required
then make biscuits and bake at 170C for 20 min
