How To make Teriyaki Fish
3/4 c Soy sauce
1/2 c Sugar
1 ts Grated fresh ginger root
1 Clove garlic,
-peeled and crushed 1/4 ts Monosodium glutamate (opt)
3 ts Sake (Japanese rice wine) or
Cooking sherry 1 1/2 lb Fish fillets
1. In a shallow, 2-quart, heat-resistant, non-metallic baking dish combine
soy sauce, sugar, ginger root, garlic, monosodium glutamate and sake. Stir to combine well. 2. Place fish fillets in sauce mixture and marinate for 1/2 hour.
3. Heat, uncovered, in Microwave Oven for 9 minutes basting occasionally
with sauce.

In this recipe, I will show you how to make a quick homemade teriyaki sauce. This pantry teriyaki sauce recipe is easy to make with readily available pantry items you have at home and it tastes out-of-this-world delicious. It goes well with chicken, beef, pork, salmon, veggies and lots more. This quick and easy at home teriyaki sauce can be used as a marinade, glaze or dipping sauce.

Ingredients:
- 4 Garlic Cloves or roughly 12g
- 1/2 cup or 100g Brown Sugar - Amazon Link -
- 1 cup or 250ml Low Sodium Soy Sauce (if you don't have low sodium soy you can dilute regular soy with water. Dilute it to your taste or up to 1/2 cup water 1/2 cup soy). Amazon Link -
- 2 tbsp or 30ml Rice Vinegar - Amazon Link -
- 1/2 tsp or .5g Ground Ginger
- 2 tsp or 10ml Sesame Oil - Amazon Link -
- 3 tbsp or 24g Corn Starch
- 4 tbsp or 60ml Water
- 1 tbsp or 9g Sesame Seeds
Makes roughly 1.5 cups or 375ml
** The above recipe is for a thick and sticky sauce. For a thinner sauce use less of the cornstarch slurry. Pour a small amount into the sauce- a little at a time- bring to a simmer to check the thickness. Continue this process until you reach the desired thickness.

How to make Japanese Teriyaki Cod in 15 minutes (鱈の照り焼き)

This crispy pan fried cod is coated in corn starch for added crispiness and then coated in a 4 ingredient teriyaki sauce. Not only does it only take 15 minutes (or less) but it tastes delicious too!

【Ingredients】
- 300ml Water
- 2 Cod Fillets (skin on)
- 1 tbsp Corn Starch (or potato starch)
- 1 ½ tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 ½ tbsp Mirin
- 1 ½ tbsp Sake
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
【Instruction:】
1. Boil 300ml water and place the cod fillets in a heatproof bowl.
2. Pour the boiling water over the cod.
3. Drain the boiling water and wash the cod fillets under cold water.
4. Dry the surface of the cod with kitchen paper and coat with 1 tbsp corn starch. (Make sure it’s covered on both sides.)
5. Take a frying pan and heat on medium.
6. Drizzle 1 tbsp sesame oil into the pan and let it heat up.
7. Place the cod fillets in the pan with the skin side down.
8. Fry until the skin is browned and crispy, then flip them over.
9. Add 1 ½ tbsp Soy Sauce, 1 ½ tbsp mirin, 1 ½ tbsp sake and 1 tsp sugar to the pan.
10. Mix it around the fillets and fry until sauce is thickened.
11. Once thick and glossy, stir the cod around the pan so that the sauce sticks to it.
12. Serve with rice and miso soup and enjoy!
