Apple Filling:
2lbs Apples (Honey Crisp, Fuji, etc)
3 tbsp melted unsalted butter
3 tbsp water
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 pinches of salt
light dusting of cinnamon sugar
Optional: 1 shot of bourbon or cognac
Topping:
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
1/3 cup cold butter (cubed)
cinnamon to taste
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Peel and slice apples into thin pieces so that they cook evenly.
In a mixing bowl, add 1/2 cup flour, oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and pinch of salt. Mix to combine. Next, add cubed butter and blend until a crumble forms. Place in the fridge the chill.
Next, in a mixing bowl, whisk melted butter, flour, Vanilla, and lemon juice. Next, stir in 1/4 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, and pinch of salt. Taste as you go and adjust as needed. Add sliced apples and toss to coat evenly. Butter your baking dish and then add apples and top with crumble topping. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until browned and apples are tender. Serve with ice cream and enjoy!

This apple crisp has browned butter in the crisp topping, giving it a beautiful nutty aroma that complements the apples perfectly.
Yield: 6-8 servings
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook time: 45 minutes
Ingredients
6 cups (900 g) apples (such as Gala, MacIntosh or other sweet, eating apple), peeled and sliced
¼ cup (60 mL) maple syrup
1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla extract
½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter
1 ¼ cups (115 g) regular rolled oats
1/3 cup (50 g) whole wheat flour
½ cup (100 g) packed light brown sugar
1 tsp (5 mL) ground cinnamon
pinch salt
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 350 F (180 C).
2. Place the sliced apples in a 6-cup (1.5L) by volume baking dish (any shape). Stir in the maple syrup and vanilla to coat the apples.
3. Melt the butter in a small saucepot over medium high heat until it browns and takes on a nutty aroma (once the foam subsides, it should be done). Set aside.
4. Stir the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt in a mixing bowl. Add the browned butter and stir until blended. Spread this evenly over the apples and bake for about 45 minutes, until the apples yield easily when a paring knife is inserted in the centre of the crisp (the crisp should be bubbling at the edges.) Allow the crisp to cool for 15 minutes before serving.

INGREDIENTS
12 tablespoons unsalted butter
2/3 cup sugar (brown or white or a combination)
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
INSTRUCTIONS
Grate cold butter into a large bowl. Alternately, you can dice it small.
Add sugar: use all brown or all white or a combination to make 2/3 cup. Use whatever combination you like (I like using 1/3 cup each brown and white).
Add flour and then, using a pastry cutter, work the butter into the flour and sugar until the mixture forms coarse crumbs.
Use crumble as recipe directs, on a fruit pie or on muffins or coffee cake. Bake as directed in recipe.

Ingredients -
Crumble -
180g (6.2oz) - Plain (All Purpose) Flour
1 tsp (4g) - Baking Powder
125g (4.4oz) - Unsalted Butter
165g (5.9oz) - Caster Sugar
Apple Filling -
6 - Granny Smith Apples, Peeled & Diced
1 Tbsp (14g) - Unsalted Butter
1/2 tsp (1.5g) - Ground Cinnamon
1/4 tsp (0.1g) - Ground Nutmeg
1 Tbsp (20g) - Caster Sugar
Base -
100g (3.5oz) - Unsalted Butter, Softened
110g (3.8oz) - Caster Sugar
1 - Whole Egg
150g (5.29oz) - Plain (All Purpose) Flour
1 tsp (4g) - Baking Powder
1Tbsp (20ml) - Full Fat Milk
Method -
1. Preheat oven to 160.c - 320.f. Grease and line a baking pan with parchment paper (20cmx30cm).
2. Mix the flour, baking powder, and sugar in a bowl to make the crumble. Rub in the butter until it resembles fresh breadcrumbs.
3. To make the apple filling: peel and chop apples. Place all ingredients into a saucepan and cook over low heat for 10 minutes or until softened. Allow cooling.
4. To make the base: Combine the butter and sugar in an electric mixer and beat until creamy. Add the egg and beat well. Fold through the flour, baking powder, and milk.
5. Spread the base in the bottom of the prepared pan. Top with apple filling, and then spoon over the crumble topping. Bake in the oven for 40 – 50 minutes or until golden.
6. Serve dusted with icing (confectioners) sugar.

Easy Apple Crumble Recipe
Ingredients:
For cooking the apple:
4 Granny smith apples
1 lemon ( only 1 tbs. lemon juice needed)
W tbsp. unsalted Butter
2 tbsp. Honey
1/2 cup Brown sugarA pinch of salt
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 tbsp. Lemon juice
1 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
For the Slurry:
1 tsp. Cornstarch
2 tbsp. Water
Crumble Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp. Baking soda
3/4 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 cup oats
10 tbsp. Unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
Directions:
1. Prepare all the utensils and ingredients needed.
2. In a pre-heated on low heat add butter, melt the butter in low heat to avoid burning. Add the apples, honey and sugar. Simmer it for about 15 minutes.
3. Open the lid, add salt, vanilla, lemon juice and cinnamon. Mix thoroughly. Add the slurry cornstarch dissolve in water and mix thoroughly. Set aside and let it cool down before using.
For making the crumble:
1. In a bowl add 1 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 tsp. Baking soda, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup oats and mix thoroughly. Add 10 tbsp. Cubed unsalted cold butter and crumble it slowly with all the ingredients. (you can add more sugar and butter if you like)
Cooking instructions:
1. Prepare a baking pan/dish and rub inside the baking dish with melted butter.
2. Scoop some crumble and put it inside the dish and slowly push it on the bottom and around the side. (watch the video). Add the cook apples and top it with crumble.
3. In a pre-heated oven @375 Deg F. / 190Deg. C cook the apple crumble for about 45-50 minutes. Every oven is different know your oven.
4. Cool it down before serving. Best serve with vanilla ice cream.
