How To make Moroccan Chicken Tagine(Hl)
2 frozen barbecued chickens with sauce
defrosted
:
kosher precooked 8 ounces frozen chopped peppers & onions
1/2 cup orange-flavored brandy
8 ounces mixed dried fruits cut in half

see note 14 ounces stewed tomatoes -- partially drained
2 teaspoons five-spice powder
8 ounces shredded carrots
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 cups coarsely cut italian parsley
sliced almonds 1 sprig italian parsley -- for garnish
Drain barbecue sauce from defrosted chickens. Reserve. Cut each chicken into 8 pieces and place, skin side up, in a baking pan. Remove any fat from reserved sauce. Place 2 cups sauce in large microwave dish. Dispose of remaining sauce. Mix in peppers and onions, brandy, dried fruits, tomatoes, five-spice powder, carrots, garlic powder, honey, lemon juice and parsley. Partially cover and microwave on high 7 minutes, until fruits are fork-tender.
Pour sauce and its contents over chicken and marinate overnight. Sprinkle with almonds and bake in preheated 350-degree oven for 45 minutes until heated completely through. Garnish with parsley before serving. This goes beautifully with a couscous mix, which cooks in 5 minutes, or barley pilaf, which microwaves in 8 minutes. Just follow the package directions.

Three different salads, aubergine (eggplant), carrot and olive, and tomato and paprika before two tagines, beef and chicken. Moroccan food typically takes a long time to prepare, but the result is worth the wait!

We’re all ready for our cooking class here
we’re going to be cooking two different types of tagine
beef and chicken but first tea
We’l prepare three different salads
alright
the famous aubergine salad
oooh yum
and tomato salad and paprika
and we’ll have another salad which is carrots and olives

So chef Tariq is now pummelling all the eggplant
and all of my bad chopping has disappeared
it’s perfect now

I find the longer a meal takes to prepare
the better it tastes
which means Moroccan cuisine tastes fantastic
it takes a long time to prepare
but really the reward is in the final product!
OK chef Tariq is now putting together all of the ingredients

#Bastilla or #Pastilla is a #Moroccan #pie made with #chicken #lamb or pigeon meat. The juxtaposition of #sweet and #savoury flavours is what makes this chicken and almond pie super enticing. Aromatic #spices like #cinnamon and #saffron lend great flavours to this chicken pie. Paprika, cumin ginger and turmeric also provide a helping hand in building the taste for this delectable Moroccan pie.
The addition of roasted almonds give this chicken bastilla recipe a nice crunch and texture. Always use the phyllo as soon as possible because it tends to get dry and hence difficult to handle. That's what happened to me. My phyllo sheets were lying in the fridge for quite sometime and I really had a hard time separating them from one another. The recipe for making the pastilla may be a lenghty process but this chicken pie is worth every effort. This chicken bastilla pie can be served as an appetizer or a main course in a meal.
