MEMORIES OF MACEDONIA ~ SHOPSKA SIRENJE (Baked Cheese with Vegetables, Smoked Meat and Eggs)
Shopska Sirenje is an old recipe from a region that covers parts of Macedonia, Bulgaria and Serbia. Very rustic, and comforting, this recipe takes all the goodness that local Shepherds and farmers would have on hand. Such as fresh homemade cheese, vegetables, eggs, and sometimes cured smoked meat. Simple, yet full of flavour, and very good for you, this will please everyone at the table. Just don't forget the crusty bread to soak up all those juices!
