Baked Yellow eyed beans
Viking dad loves baked beans so today I whipped up abash with a half a pound of bacon, tomato paste and brown sugar and your usual suspect spices. My beans are frozen so it's all going in the crock pot for later. Winter is hanging on here at the Chatham Manor.
Classic Durgin-Park Boston Baked Beans
For a complete list of ingredients and instructions, please visit:
I'm proud to share my favorite Yankee recipes--starting with these amazing Durgin-Park Boston Baked Beans!
These are so simple to make and very inexpensive, too! Perfect for our Yankee Traditions video series just beginning on the Miss Rita To The Rescue! YouTube channel!
If you've ever heard of Boston, you may have heard it being referred to as Beantown.
And--although most people from around here never refer to Boston as Beantown (really...never ever!)--baked beans have been a staple at Bostonian tables for generations. And for good reason! Beans are nutritious, hearty and inexpensive to prepare. With a pound of dried navy beans, a chunk of salt pork, some molasses and a few other simple ingredients, you could appease a large family on a cold Saturday night--the traditional bean eating night.
Let me know what you think about this classic New England recipe!
Best always,
Miss Rita
A little about me:
My name is Ritamarie Cavicchio and I run Miss Rita To The Rescue!.
I blog at Missritatotherescue.com and now I vlog here on YouTube.
I love to blog about a company called Cricut and all the wonderful machines they make that allow me to better craft my little world.
I’ve been crafting my whole life, but using Cricut machines since 2012 when my uncle asked me to celebrate the lives of a few beloved family members. From that one request, I was completely hooked on the Cricut brand! Back in 2014, the Cricut CEO chose me to be a Cricut Product Expert and I am the founder of three very popular Cricut-based groups on Facebook.
When I’m not blogging about my Cricut, I am “mothering” my son--aka “MO”--and my spunky and silly Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Ted E. Bear.
I am a native Bostonian and live in a beautiful and very old house on Boston’s North Shore. I especially love exploring my wonderful city. I’ve been a Peabody-ite for the last 20 years of my life and while I might be a little biased, I think is one of the most amazing places to live, work and raise a family. PBD!
I am self supporting, so if you are interested in buying anything made by Cricut, please use my link:
When you use the “Miss Rita To The Rescue!” link and code MISSRITA201 you will receive an additional 10% off and free shipping on your order of $50 or more (some exclusions apply)!

DIY TGI Friday's Green Bean Fries
It took 3 attempts to nail this but boy was it worth it! When I go to TGI's (which isn't that often to be fair!) I tend to order 3 things most often, a cajun pasta (which i'm highly likely to do!), Sesame Jack Daniels chicken strips (which we made recently!) and green bean fries, which as the title suggests is this very video! So with the help of my budget fryer I set out to make my own including the ranch dip, i'm not actually sure if TGI's still do these in some places, but the final taste was incredible, a super close clone to TGI's. Soft in the middle, crispy batter that lightly coats the green bean dunked in that slightly tangy ranch dip, extremely addictive things! Hope you give this a go, it'll probably work in an air fryer too!
You can find more recipe clones on this playlist!
