It was the soup that my grandmother made on Fridays and it was usually a way to use up any left over veggies from the week. Any veggie you throw into this soup is tasty! For my husband I usually throw in some diced potatoes and bell pepper. But my boys and I like it with just onions and garlic! Simple, easy, and classic!
This old-fashioned beef and tomato soup is so hearty and filling! It’s been years since I’ve made this soup and it definitely belongs on my channel because it's such a keeper! I hope that you enjoy as much as we do!

????Ground Beef And Cabbage Soup - Glen & Friends Cooking
????Stuff In Our Cupboard Ground Beef And Cabbage Soup - With so many of us in quarantine, self isolation, or just straight up locked down... we're all looking for what to cook at home during this pandemic that's easy, tasty, and calming. This beef and cabbage soup recipe uses pantry staples and root vegetables that are easy to get.
Ingredients:
500g (1lb) ground beef
1 onion, diced
2 carrots, thinly sliced
2 celery stalks, sliced
60 mL (¼ cup) tomato paste
1 minced clove garlic
2 bay leaves
1 pinch ground cloves
2 mL (½ tsp) dried thyme
2 mL (½ tsp) marjoram
2 mL (½ tsp) salt
2 mL (½ tsp) pepper
750 mL (3 cups) chopped cabbage
125 mL (½ cup) uncooked rice
1L (4 cups) chicken or beef stock
500 mL (2 cups) water + more if needed
30 mL (2 Tbsp) Marmite

Method:
In large soup pot, brown beef over medium-high heat, breaking up with back of spoon.
Add onion, garlic, carrots and celery; cook, stirring until softened.
Stir in tomato paste and cook 1-2 minutes.
Add bay leaves, cloves, thyme, marjoram, salt, and pepper.
Stir in cabbage, rice, stock, water, and Marmite.
Bring to boil; reduce heat, cover and simmer until cabbage is tender, and rice is cooked through about 20 minutes.
Discard bay leaves.

Stewed Hamburg Steaks Recipe (Tender and Juicy Japanese Nikomi Hamburg Topped with Cheese)
We are making Stewed Hamburg Steak. The juicy hamburg steak is stewed in the sauce full of umami flavor. Enjoy it with plenty of sauce. Delicious!
How to Make Stewed Hamburg Steak
(serves 2) Cook Time: 35 minutes
* Time for chilling the onion is not included in cook time.
- Patties -
250g Ground Beef and Pork (8.8 oz)
1/2 tsp Salt
140g Onion, chopped, for the patties and sauce * (4.9 oz)
10g Butter, salted or unsalted (0.35 oz)
15g Soft Panko (0.53 oz)
1 tbsp Milk
1 Egg, small-size
Black Pepper, coarsely ground
- Sauce -
Onion, chopped *
1 Garlic Clove, chopped
50g Button Mushrooms, 1 cm (0.4) thick slices (1.8 oz)
Olive Oil
3 tbsp Red Wine
100g Packaged Boiled Tomato, chopped (3.5 oz)
1/2 tsp Sugar
2 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
1/2 Bouillon Cube or consomme cube
80-100ml Water (2.7 -3.4 fl oz)
Salt
Black Pepper, coarsely ground
- Toppings -
Pizza Cheese
Parsley Leaves, chopped
- Side Vegetables -
8 strips Red Bell Pepper, 5 cm (2) length
4 String Bean Pods, cut into 3 equal pieces
1/2 tbsp Olive Oil
1/2 tbsp Water
