Not Your Ordinary Hamburger Pie
Recipe below. Please note at 23:05 a small scene is missing where I added 1/2 cup red wine to the sauce and then added the sauce to the meat and vegetables. Next scene will pick up where the crust was added.
Recipe Crust: 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour (do not sift) 1/2 cup butter (1 stick) 1 teaspoon salt 1 egg yolk 5-6 tablespoons ice water
Filling: 2 cups cubed red potatoes, cooked 1 cup sliced carrots, cooked 1 pound hamburger fried and cut into bite size squares 8-10 green topped onions, sliced and slightly cooked
Sauce: Water in which potatoes and carrots were cooked plus add water to equal 3 cups 5 tablespoons butter 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1 1/2 teaspoons Old Bay Seasoning (See Below) 1/2 cup red wine (beef bouillon can be substituted here) Salt to taste
Bake in 9x13 Pyrex dish for 45 minutes to one hour at 425 degrees or until crust is brown.
Makes 6 servings. This pie freezes well if you make sure to use red potatoes (Red potatoes freeze without falling apart)
Old Bay Seasoning can be ordered from Amazon through link on my website under Products I Highly Recommend
Old Bay Seasoning if you make it yourself - this would be a good copy: 1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard 1 teaspoon paprika 1 teaspoon celery salt 1 tablespoon dried ground bay leaves 1/2 teaspoon white pepper 1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes 1/8 teaspoon mace 1/8 teaspoon cloves 1/2 teaspoon allspice 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg 1/8 teaspoon cardamom 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
