Scalloped potato's
Ingredients:
6 large golden potatoes sliced 1/8 of an inch. Or 12 small/medium potatoes. Should be about 3 pounds
2 medium onions sliced
2 garlic cloves chopped
1/4 cup of butter
1/4 cup all purpose flour
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 bouillon Cube in 1 cup of water
( microwave ad break up the bouillon cube)
2 cups of milk warmed
1/2 cup shredded cheddar
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
Recipe:
Slice your potatoes 1/8 of an inch and sprinkle them with a 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 tsp of pepper set aside. Slice your two medium onions and chop your garlic.
In a skillet on medium heat melt your butter. Once the butter is melted add your onions and garlic sprinkle with salt and pepper then saute for 5 till they become soft.
After the 5 minutes add your quarter cup of flour to your onions and garlic and mix well for about 2 minutes on low heat.
Now raise the heat to medium low and whisk in your cup of broth that you made with the bouillon cube in the water. Mix that up until it's combined and then start adding your two cups of warm milk gradually until it's fully combined. Now add your two tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce blend it well . then add you shredded cheese and cook for 5 minutes continuously mixing. Then set this aside. (Taste it and see if you want to add more salt)
In a 13x9 baking dish, spray it with Pam spray. Start layering your potatoes till the bottom is covered. Then pour about a third of your sauce on the potatoes and then layer the the next set of potatoes on top and pour the rest of the sauce on the potatoes. Sprinkle the top with paprika. Cover with foil place in the oven at 350° for 1 hour. After the hour remove the foil continue cooking at 350° for 45 minutes.
**As soon as you can slip a fork into the potato's without any resistance they are done.
If your potatoes are just cooked until they're tender, you might not have baked them long enough. I cooked mine covered for an hour. (When I checked the potato's they still were NOT easily pierced. ) Then I cooked them uncovered for about 30 -45 more minutes uncovered so they could brown a little bit and to continue to cook since I knew they were not done. ( Use your judgement when cooking, if you think they're done within the hour. Then remove them from the oven).
Thank you so much for watching what's on my plate enjoy ????

Cheesy Au Gratin Potatoes w/ Ham Recipe!!
Learn how to make these delicious cheesy au gratin potatoes with ham!! Forget the boxed stuff and go for the homemade from scratch this Thanksgiving! I mean, cheesy sauce with ham and potatoes. What more can a person ask for in a side dish?! ;-)
What you'll need:
(4) 4-5 russet potatoes
2-1/4 cups milk
1-1/2 cups shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup diced ham
1/2 small onion, chopped
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
4 Tbsp butter
salt and pepper to taste
Wash and peel your potatoes and slice into 1/16 slices or disks. If you have a mandoline, use it otherwise a knife works just as well. Put potato slices into a large bowl of cool water so they don't oxidize on you. Next, bring a large pot of water to a boil on the stovetop. Drain the potatoes and add to boiling water and bring back to a bubble and cook for 3 minutes. Drain and rinse to stop the cooking process.
For the sauce, in a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium-high heat and add in the onion. Cook for 1-2 minutes and add in flour. Stir well and cook an additional 1 minute. Slowly add in the milk while whisking constantly until all the milk is added. Add in 1 tsp salt and black pepper to taste. Bring to a boil while stirring constantly. Turn off the heat and add in cheese and ham and stir to melt cheese and combine well.
Next, pour 1/4 sauce into the bottom of a 9 x 9 baking dish. Layer 1/3 of the potato slices in, top with 1/4 sauce and spread evenly across, followed by 1/3 potato slices, 1/4 sauce, 1/3 potato slices and finally top with remaining 1/4 sauce. Bake in a preheated 350*F oven for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown on top. Let rest 15-20 minutes before serving to let sauce thicken and set up and enjoy!!
**you can make a double recipe in a 9 x 13 baking dish
***you can also assemble this the day before and bake the next day if you wish. Just let come to room temperature before baking or add an additional 10 minutes to the baking time.

COOKiNG 101 ON A BUDGET~ SCALLOPED POTATOES & HAM DiNNER FOR ONLY $55 ????????
This is the first of our series of our cooking 10 one but now on a budget. I’m gonna be taking you to the grocery store grabbing exactly what we need and breaking down how much it cost to make a meal. This was only $55 for our family at 10 so if you are smaller family this meal only cost you about $26.
I’m trying to challenge myself to make sure that I am conscious of the things that I’m buying, how much I’m buying, and how much are meals cost. I’m super excited about this new series and next up is going to be Joshua’s famous pizza casserole on a budget.
Here is the recipe for the homemade scalloped potatoes and ham with a beautiful salad:
Ingredients:
One onion, sliced thin
One stick of butter
Combine both in a sauce pan and let that cook on low while you start the roux.
Roux Ingredients:
One stick of butter
One cup of flour
1/2 tablespoon of salt
1/2 tablespoon of pepper
1 tablespoon of ground mustard
2 tablespoons of garlic
2 to 4 cups of heavy cream
1 to 2 cups of shredded italian cheese mixture
To your one stick of melted butter add the salt and all of your spices
Whisk together until it forms a paste and let it bubble for about 2 to 3 minutes
Slowly add the whipping cream, next the shredded cheese mixture.
Additional Ingredients:
4 cups of carrots, chopped small
One bag of sliced yellow potatoes,
About one to 2 pounds of ham cut into chunks
Start by chopping the carrots, slicing the potatoes, and cutting your ham into chunks.
Next layer, the Scalloped potatoes first with some sauce on the bottom
Then potatoes, ham, carrots, and onions.
Repeat those layers, ending with sauce and sprinkling with Italian cheese mixture.
Bake at 375 for around 1 hour
