ORNAMENTS ~ EPIC Satisfying Cookie Decorating of *29* Different Ornament Cookies with Royal Icing
An epic ornament shape series set has been on my brain since last Christmas… and I’m so glad I finally made it this year! And boy, is it EPIC ???? 29 designs made it into the final cut (plus a handful of “duds”). I feel like I’ve been in a bit of a creative rut the last few months, so it felt SO good to have that much creativity in me to crank out that many designs! Some of the designs are totally new from my brain, some are similar to what I did for other shape series sets (like the trees and hearts) and some are inspired by designs done by other cookiers (which I credit below and will as well in the individual reels).

How to Make Stained Glass Christmas Cookies
How to Make Stained Glass Christmas Cookies
Full Recipe:
Stained glass cookies are SO EASY to make and beautiful to look at. I love seeing light peek through the centers and yes, you can decorate your tree with them, or you might prefer snacking on them straight out of the oven! There are no wrong answers here.
To make them all you have to do is cut your sugar cookies with a negative space inside, then crush your favorite hard candy and sprinkle it in the middle. Try not to get any hard candy on the sugar cookie as it will look messy. Also you really need a silicone baking mat for this, not sure baking paper would work for the release but you can let me know in the comments if you've tried it!
Molded Cinnamon Salt Dough Ornaments Recipe & Tutorial | Christmas Crafts | Miss Mustard Seed
I made these molded ornaments out of cinnamon salt dough (a faux gingerbread) as just a way to use up extra dough when I was making salt dough gingerbread houses, but this experiment was the real winner! I love how they turned out, so I made them again to film a quick tutorial. They are super easy to make and can be used for many years. They would also make great gifts.
Recipe -
1 cup all-purpose flour (plus a little more for dusting and if flour is too wet)
1/2 cup table salt
3/4 cup ground cinnamon
3/4 cup of water (plus a little more, if dough is too crumbly)
Mix together all ingredients until they are combined. Dump onto a lightly floured surface and knead. Add more water or flour 1 teaspoon at a time until dough holds together when squeezed in your fist.
Press into a mold with your hand and cut off extra with a bench scraper (or a knife.) Gently lift dough out of the mold and put on a baking sheet. Poke a hole at the top of each ornament.
Bake at 200 degrees for 30 minutes with the tops facing up, then turn over and cook for another 30 minutes. Allow to cool on a cooling rack. Thread ribbon or twine through the hole with a tapestry needle.
