How To make Chocolate Pecan Pie(1)
1 Pastry for one-crust pie
unbaked
Filling: 1 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine :
melted
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips -- (1 cup)
reserve 2 T. 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
Topping: 2 tablespoons reserved semi-sweet chocolate chips
10 pecan halves
Whipped cream
Prepare pastry for unbaked one-crust pie. Heat oven to 325 degrees. In large bowl, combine corn syrup, sugar, margarine, vanilla and eggs; beat well. Reserve 2 tablespoons chocolate chips for topping. Stir in remaining chocolate chips and 1-1/2 cups pecans. Spread evenly in pastry-lined pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 55 to 65 minutes or until deep golden brown and filling is set. Cool completely. Line cookie sheet with waxed paper. Melt 2 tablespoons reserved chocolate chips in small saucepan over low heat. Dip each of 10 pecan halves into chocolate. Place on paper-lined cookie sheet. Refrigerate 15 to 20 minutes or until chocolate is set. Garnish pie with whipped cream and chocolate-dipped nuts. Store in refrigerator.

INGREDIENTS
- 1 9-inch pie crust (find my recipe here:
- 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup white corn syrup
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 2 tbsp bourbon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups pecans (1/2 cup chopped)
- 8 oz dark chocolate (70% preferable)
INSTRUCTIONS
To par-bake the prepared crust, preheat the oven to 375°F. Line the chilled pie shell with parchment and fill with pie weights or dry beans. Bake until the crust is golden, 12-15 minutes. Remove parchment and weights and continue baking until the bottom of the crust is golden and dry to the touch, 10-12 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside.
In a bowl, combine the sugar, melted butter, eggs, corn syrup, salt, bourbon, and vanilla. Whisk to combine.
Add in whole pecans and chopped pecans, and stir to combine.
Place the chocolate in the bottom of the par-baked pie shell. If using a bar of chocolate, roughly chop before placing it in the bottom of the shell. Pour prepared filling over the chocolate and bake in the 375°F oven until the center jiggles slightly, 45-55 minutes. Remove from oven and cool 6-8 hours before cutting and serving.

Thanksgiving - Chocolate Pecan Pie
Jack Scalfani is joined with special guest Joe Chavez as they make a classic Thanksgiving dessert even better.
Here is the recipe:
Chocolate Pecan Pie
1 pkg of 8 squares of Baker's semi-sweet chocolate
1 refrigerated pie crust
2 tbsp butter or margarine
3 eggs lightly beaten
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 cup of KARO light or dark corn syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
1.5 cups pecan halves or walnut halves
heat oven to 350 degrees F. Coarsely chop 4 squares of the chocolate and set aside. Line a 9 inch pie plate with your pie crust or use a premade.
Microwave remaining 4 squares of chocolate and butter until butter is melted. stir until chocolate is completely smooth. Brush pie crust with small amount of beaten eggs. Stir sugar, corn syrup, eggs and vanilla into chocolate mixture until blended. Stir in pecans and chopped chocolate pieces. Pour into pie crust.
Bake 55 minutes or until knife inserted 2 inches from edge comes out clean. Cool for a minimum of 2 hours. Serves 8 people.

Chocolate Pecan Pie
A pie that is chocolaty, nutty, and delicious. Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
1 stick butter melted
½ cup light brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup all purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup pecans - chopped
1 frozen pie crust
Preheat oven to 350°
Prebake pie crust for 10 minutes. Combine sugars, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract stirring together by hand until well combined. Stir in flour and salt. Fold in pecans and chocolate chips. Pour mixture into pie crust and bake for 1 hour or until the center is almost set. Cool for 15 minutes before slicing for best result. Serve plain or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
