This recipe takes only twenty minutes and four simple steps:
Cook the quinoa
Mix quinoa with other ingredients
Pour the mixture in an oven pan
Bake in the oven for 20 minutes
It calls for: quinoa, baking mix, turkey, cheddar cheese, milk, eggs and maple syrup if you would like. Since the recipe calls for lightly beaten eggs let's dive into what that actually means.
Is there a correct way to beat an egg?
There are various terms for how eggs should be added when cooking or baking. Let's take a look at some of the terms and understand what they mean.
- Slightly Beaten- When a recipe calls for this you will usually beat the egg with a fork or a whisk just until the egg whites and yolks are blended. The goal for slightly beaten eggs is ensuring that the white and yolk do not remain separate.
- Well Beaten- This is done with a whisk, egg beater, blender, or electric mixer until they are frothy, light and even in color.
-Thick and Light Lemon Colored- If you see this direction in a recipe, the eggs are beaten with an electric mixer for about five minutes, until thick and light lemon-colored.
- Soft Peaks-Soft peaks refer to egg whites that are beaten with an electric mixer. Using a medium speed, continue to beat until they are soft and white. They should form peaks that will bend back over and curl downwards.
Stiff Peaks-Stiff peaks is the stage reached after soft peaks. Simply continue to use the mixer until stiff peaks form. You should be able to turn the bowl upside down without the mixed eggs moving.
Wow. Who honestly knew there were this many ways to beat an egg? Now you know!
