How To make Buttermilk Bread
6 c Buttermilk 1 1/2 tb Salt
1 Cake dry yeast 2 tb Sugar
1/2 c Lukewarm water 2 tb Melted butter or butter
Flour -substitute Heat buttermilk, stirring constantly until scalded. Remove from fire and let cool. Add yeast which has been softened in the water. Add sufficient flour to make a medium batter. Beat until smooth. Cover and set in a warm place and allow to stand overnight. Add sugar, salt butter, and enough flour to make a dough just stiff enough to knead. Turn onto lightly floured board and knead until smooth and elastic. Allow to rise until double in bulk and work down. Let rise again until double in bulk. Form into loaves. Place in well-oiled pans. Cover and let rise until double in bulk. Bake in hot oven (425? F) about 45 minutes. 4 loaves. Mrs. W.H. Juedeman, Bristow, OK. -----

Zojirushi Buttermilk Bread
Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups + 2 tablespoons buttermilk (slightly warmed to about room temperature)
4 1/2 cups white bread flour or 1 1/4 cups + 3 Tbs wheat gluten
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons butter (soft)
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons dry milk powder
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
Steps
Step 1:
Place all ingredients in bread pan (buttermilk on the bottom) do not allow the yeast to touch the salt or buttermilk.
Step 2:
Set to either light, medium or dark crust -- cycle #1-- 2-pound loaf.

Traditional Soda Bread Recipe with Buttermilk - Easy Irish Recipes #Ad
My tasty Irish soda bread recipe is made with buttermilk and it’s the perfect homemade recipe from Ireland. It has a lovely filling with a beautiful cakey consistency. It’s also super easy to prepare compared with yeast-based bread because there is no proofing time required.
If you’re new to baking, my easy soda bread recipe is a great bake to start off with. The buttermilk and baking soda raising agent makes this a traditional Irish loaf of bread which you’ll find all over Ireland.

Ingredients for my traditional soda bread recipe with buttermilk:
- 175g Strong white bread flour
- 175g Wholemeal flour
- 1 tsp Bicarbonate of soda
- 25g Butter
- 250ml Buttermilk
- 2 tbsp Treacle
- Porridge oats (sprinkling)

300g All-purpose flour 2cups
3g Salt 1/2tsp
3g Baking soda 3/4tsp
270g Buttermilk 1cup+3tbsp
At 425 F/220 C bake for 20-25 minutes
1cup=250ml 1tbsp=15ml 1tsp=5ml
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. preheat the oven to 425F or 220C
2. Mix the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
3. Stir in the buttermilk until it's combined
4. Transfer to a work surface lightly dusted with flour and shape into a ball about 2 inches in height.
5. Place the dough on the prepared baking pan and use a very sharp knife to cut a deep cross in it.
5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes
6. Transfer to a wire rack and leave to cool completely.
7. Enjoy!
