My Mom's Awesome Chocolate Chip Mandelbroit (Mandel Bread) Dessert Recipe!
We wanted to share a wonderful family Mondel Broit recipe from Susan's mom, Marion (handed down from her grandmother, Sadie). If you give this a try, please leave a comment and let me know how you liked it! We really hope you enjoy it!
Mom’s Mandelbroit
4 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup oil
2 tsp. vanilla
4 cups flour (Sift)
2 tsp. baking powder
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Cinnamon and/or sugar to sprinkle on top (optional)
Mix all thoroughly, then add 1 cup of chocolate chips, nuts, or citrons and mix. (I use chocolate chips.)
Butter baking sheet – flour your hands and take some dough out with a spoon or spatula and roll
between your two hands – work fast – otherwise, it could stick to your hands.
Roll out about 4 pieces or loaves and place them on a cookie sheet – not too close together, as it
spreads.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.
Slice while hot on the cookie sheet – turn over on the side and put under the broiler to brown for 1 minute.
Let cool and enjoy!
Baking Mandelbrot with Mom
My mom has made Mandelbrot cookies for years and it was finally time to see how the sausage was made (kosher of course).
Recipe:
4 Sticks of butter
2 Cups of sugar
1 Bissel of salt
2 Teaspoons of baking powder
6-8 Eggs
2 Teaspoons of vanilla
6 Cups of flour
Optional chocolate chips or walnuts
You can half this recipe as we doubled it in the video. Melt the butter and mix with the sugar. Add the salt, baking powder and eggs. Now add the vanilla and slowly mix in the flour.
Once the dough is firm and won't stick to your hand you can form it into a load on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 350f for 10 minutes and check for hardness. You shouldn't be able to put your finger into it. Let bake longer if needed.
Remover from the over and cut into pieces. Lay the pieces on their side close together. Once the cookie sheet is full bake for another 5-10 minutes to crisp. Remove from the over and let cool.

Claire Saffitz Makes Aunt Rose's Mondel Bread | Dessert Person
Mandel bread is a kind of almond cookie that Claire Saffitz describes as a Jewish Biscotti although it's only baked once. Claire recently learned that before emigrating to the United States, her great grandfather worked as a baker. This explains the handful of recipes passed down on her mother's side. One of her favorite recipes passed down is this Mandel bread recipe named Aunt Rose's Mondel Bread. Follow along as Claire Saffitz shows you this family recipe and tries to track down the origin of this specific cookie.

Gluten-Free Almond Mandelbrot | Jewish Mandel Bread Recipe
Hello Foodies,
Today's recipe is Mandelbrot. It is a Jewish biscotti and is quite similar to Indian cake rusk, American or Italian style biscotti, all of them are twice baked. Mandelbrot, though is a lighter cookie with a crunch which makes them addictive. If you are baking cookies as holiday gifts or something for your family that have a longer shelf life then this is the cookie for you.
