$750,000 a YEAR from HOME SELLING FOOD [ Missouri Cottage Foods Law] FULL TUTORIAL
$750,000 a YEAR from HOME SELLING FOOD [ Missouri Cottage Foods Law] FULL TUTORIAL
Two distinct legislations in Missouri permit the sale of homemade food, jointly establishing a robust cottage food law. Producers have the option of operating under both laws, if they choose to do so.
An additional cottage food law in Missouri grants producers the liberty to vend most types of non-perishable food items at events and roadside stalls, with minimal restrictions.
In 2014, Missouri enacted a law (SB 525) to extend these allowances, enabling producers to conduct sales from their homes. This law saw further improvements in 2022 (HB 1697) to incorporate online sales and within-the-state shipping.
The law is quite detailed and, consequently, can seem restrictive. It allows producers to sell only non-perishable baked goods, jams, jellies, and herbs under its provisions.
Moreover, the law stipulates that producers can only vend their products from home, encompassing online sales and orders that are delivered or shipped within the state.
There is no cap on sales, and producers are not required to procure a permit from the health department or undergo a training course.
