Beetroot and its juice help your heart and lungs work better during exercise. Nitric oxide from beets increases blood flow to your muscles. Some athletes eat beetroot or drink beet juice when exercising to improve their performance. Beets are rich in folate (vitamin B9) which helps cells grow and function.
Beetroots and beetroot juice have been associated with numerous health benefits, including improved blood flow, lower blood pressure, and increased exercise performance. Many of these benefits are due to their high content of inorganic nitrates. Beetroots are delicious raw but more frequently cooked or pickled.
Beets are one of the foods rich in iron, an essential component of red blood cells. Without iron, red blood cells would not be able to carry oxygen around the body. Accordingly, people with low iron levels can sometimes develop iron deficiency anemia.
Beetroot, loaded with iron, minerals and vitamins, beetroots help repair and reactivate red blood cells, which in turn increase the oxygen supply. Beetroot juice topped with carrots, oranges and even amla is an excellent combination to fight low haemoglobin levels.
