Angel Biscuits:
5 cups all purpose flour
1 pkt rapid rise yeast
1 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp baking powder
3 tbsp sugar...plus 1 tsp for the yeast mixture
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup warm water (110-115 degrees)
2 sticks cold butter, cut into cubes
2 1/2 cups buttermilk
Mix warm water, 1 tsp sugar and yeast together and sit to the side. In a big ole bowl, add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, sugar and salt. Mix it together really good...or sift it if you want. Add your chopped up butter and use a fork, or your hand or a fancy cutter thingy if you have one. One your butter is about pea sized and mixed in good with the flour, add your buttermilk and that yeast mixture (which should be all foamy by now). Mix it together until it's all incorporated. It will be sticky...it's supposed to be. Flour your surface and turn the dough out onto the surface. Pat it down and fold it over on itself a few times (add a little flour as needed for you to be able to handle it). Once you've done that, press it out to about an inch thick. Get you something that you have in the house that's roughly the size of what you want your biscuits to be (if you don't have a biscuit cutter). Butter your pans. Cut out the biscuits and place in the pan. Sides touching will make them fluffier. I got 20 biscuits out of mine. Cover them and let them rise for about 1 hour. After that hour is up, preheat the oven to 400. Melt some butter and brush the tops of the biscuits. Bake for about 18-22 mins. Mine took about 22 mins, but watch them after about 15ish to be sure.
If you want to make the gravy (and you've never done it before), follow the video instructions to make it really simple. Enjoy!!

Angel Biscuits Revisited
I am revisiting a recipe that showed on YouTube when I first started. From this recipe you can make biscuits, rolls and cinnamon rolls. Enjoy!
#susanssoutherncooking #howtomakeangelbiscuits #angelbiscuitrecipe
Angel Biscuits
5 cups all-purpose flour
5 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. soda
3 Tb Sugar
1 cup shortening, cut in
1 pkg. yeast dissolved in 5 Tb warm water
2 cups buttermilk
Cut shortening into dry ingredients then add yeast and buttermilk and mix. Roll dough and cut into biscuits. Bake in 425°F oven until brown. Approximately 14 minutes.
For rolls, roll out dough to ⅛- ½ ‘’ thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter. Fold over and place on greased pan. Brush with melted butter and let rise. Bake in approximate 400°F oven. (It is better to let dough chill for at least 30 minutes in refrigerator.)
You can also make cinnamon rolls by rolling out dough into a rectangle. Brush dough with1 stick of butter. Sprinkle liberally with brown sugar, cinnamon, and a light sprinkle of granulated sugar.
You can add nuts and raisins if desired. Roll up in a pinwheel fashion and slice to approx. ½ - ¾’’. Let rise and bake as rolls. Ice them with powdered sugar mixed with a little vanilla flavoring and enough milk or whipping cream to make an icing.
Dough can be refrigerated for about 3 days.
