Making Homemade Almond, Black Walnut, Hazelnut and Pecan Extracts
*** Disclaimer: If you or a family member are allergic to tree nuts please do not make this extract. If you choose to make tree nut extracts and are allergic to them you are doing it of your own free will and as a adult you can make your own choices. I am not held responsible for your choices.
Hello and welcome to Old Ways Gardening and Prepping.???? Good morning on this beautiful cool day I'd like to welcome you each out to the shed of many names. Today we are going to be talking about making more homemade extracts. This time we will be talking about making different extracts from various nuts.
Making your own homemade extracts is very easy. All you need are the unsalted nuts of your choice, 80 proof vodka and a quart or pint canning jar.
As long as you follow along with the video you will be able to make your own extracts. You will need to let them sit in a cool dark area for at least eight weeks or longer it's your choice. Or you can leave the nuts in the extract it won't hurt anything at all. You will need to agitate the jars every other day to make sure that the alcohol is mixed well with the nuts.
After your extract is done to your liking you will strain out the nuts and your extract will be finished. Please do not discard the nuts you can use them in baking afterwards. You do not have to worry about the alcohol content in the nuts due to the fact the heat will evaporate it out. The nuts after being used in the extract are wonderful to use in pies, cakes, cookies, fudge or any thing else of your choosing.
Hope this video encourages you to make your own different nut extracts as long as you're not allergic to them or a family member is. If you have any questions please feel free to ask them in the comment section below I will answer them as soon as possible. Everyone take care and have a blessed day.
Blessings,
Teresa
