Thai Shrimp and Glass Noodles | Goong Ob Woonsen
Goong Ob Woonsen - claypot Thai prawns and glass noodles. Made this for @lexldf’s pre birthday meal because almost every May we would celebrate his birthday in Thailand ???????? Fortunately it is a very simple recipe but packed a punch in flavours.
Sauce:
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp dark soy sauce
1/2 tsp white pepper
1 tsp sugar
180 ml water
120g glass noddles (pine brand is a must ????)
8-10 medium size prawns
5 gloves garlic
5 ginger slices
3 coriander roots
1 tsp black peppercorns
1. Mix sauce ingredients.
2. Soak glass noodles in warm water till soft. Cut twice diagonally so that the noodles are easier to be eaten.
3. Snip prawn legs and de-vein.
4. Pour sauce mixtures over drained glass noodles and prawns.
5. Bruise the aromatics and black peppercorns using pestle and mortar or @kbcgkitchen meat hammer. Stir fry the aromatics in a hot wok.
6. Pour glass noodles and sauce mixture in, followed by prawns.
7. Once sauce starts to boil, close lid and continue to cook for 3 min over low-med heat.
8. Open lid and give it a good stir. Close lid and cook for another 3 min.
9. Off heat and leave it for 2-3 min. Serve and garnish with coriander.
Ginger Shrimp & Glass Noodles Recipe (Goong Ob Woonsen) กุ้งอบวุ้นเส้น
This is something I always order without fail whenever we go to a seafood restaurant in Thailand! Glass noodles and shrimp are cooked together in a pot with lots of ginger, garlic and pepper. It's such a classic, with a unique flavour that makes it an iconic dish of Thai seafood restaurants.
