Here's what you'll need:
- 2 cups of long-grain white rice rinsed and drained
- 3 cups of water
- 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 cup of onion, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon of dried thyme or rosemary
- 1/4 cup of crushed nuts or seeds
- Pinch of saffron (optional)
- A small handful of fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste

EASY RICE COOKER TURMERIC YELLOW RICE | Delicious Fluffy Yellow Rice in Rice Cooker
Learn how to cook fluffy and flavorful turmeric rice in the rice cooker. Turmeric is the key ingredient that makes the dish golden yellow and fragrant, along with garlic, onion and other spices . It’s an easy set it and forget it kind of dish and takes only about 20 minutes to make.
Ingredients
3 cups basmati Rice ( washed and rinsed)
1 tbsp better than bullion chicken (if you are using chicken stock then you don’t need this)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp parsley
1 tsp turmeric
Salt
5 cups water
3 tbsp olive oil
Set rice cooker to white rice or Rice mode.
It will come out fluffy and beautifully cooked. Delicious!!!

There’s no reason to be eating plain chicken and rice when you can make this incredibly easy and delicious chicken recipe! Packed with flavor, so filling while being low calorie! Perfect for meal prep too????????????

430 Calories | 41g Protein | 42g Carbs | 11g Fat
Ingredients (for 4 servings)
- 700g Raw Cubed Chicken Breast
- 1 tbps Oregano
- 1 tbsp Cumin
- 1 tbsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Chilli Powder
- 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Olive Oil
- 1/2 Lemon Juice
Cook on high heat for 3-4 mins each side till golden brown
- Shredded Lettuce
- Chopped Tomatoes
- Garnish Coriander (optional)
Garlic Sauce
- 150g Fat Free Greek Yogurt (any yogurt works)
- 50g Light Mayo
- 2 Minced Garlic Cloves
- Chopped Coriander/Cilantro
- 1/2 tsp Cumin, Salt, Pepper
- 1/2 Lemon Juice
You can store this sauce for multiple days in a bottle or container, perfect to prep in batches
Golden Rice
- Basmati Rice (207g uncooked gives about 560g cooked weight | 140g Cooked Rice per serving)
- season with Turmeric, Cumin, Paprika, Garlic, Salt
- Add water then bring to a boil then simmer on low heat for 8-10 mins till fully cooked
Distribute into 4 equal servings and enjoy!

Important notes
- When reheating the meal prep, i would put the sauce and lettuce seperately then heat the rice and chicken in a microwave
- You can store the sauces in little containers in the meal prep box

In this video, I will be showing you how to make this really nice and tasty Sri Lankan Yellow Rice. This rice uses coconut milk, and is really easy to make. I use a different rice called Muthu Samba Rice, as this is what you use for the Yellow rice. I have also paired this with Tandoori Chicken and a Seeni Sambal, which uses onions. Sri Lankan Yellow rice ingredients: u
Muthu Samba Rice - 2 cups
Cinnamon sticks - 2
Cardamom - 10
Clove - 10
Black peppercorns - 1½ tablespoons
Shallots - 15
Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
Some curry leaves
Lemon grass
Pandan leaf
Cashew nuts - 10
Raisins - 15
Ghee - 2 tablespoons
Coconut milk - 1 tin
Salt

Ingredients:
2 Cups Basmati or Long Grain rice
200ml Concentrated Chicken Stock
3 Garlic Cloves
2 Brown or Spanish Onions
2 Plum Tomatoes
2-3 Black Limes (Loumi)
2 Bay Leaves
2 Cardamom Pods
2 Cloves
1 Green Chilli
4 Tbsp Lemon Juice
2 Tbsp Butter
2 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 1/2 Tsp Salt
3/4 Tsp Ground Turmeric
1/2 Tsp Black Pepper
Directions:
1 - Wash your Basmati rice, 3-4 times until the water runs clear.
2 - Peel and dice your Onions to a medium-small dice
3 - Deseed and dice your tomatoes into small pieces
4 - Slice your chilli into small pieces
5 - Add your Butter and Oil to a pot on medium heat
6 - Once melted, add the diced onion, and mince the garlic cloves and add in
7 - Saute for about 5-7 minutes until the onions have softened and wilted. Do not let the onions brown
8- Add your Green Chilli and diced Tomatoes as well as the Black Limes, Cardamom, Cloves and Bay Leaves. Mix well and saute for 3-5 minutes
9 - Once the tomatoes have softened add the Salt, Black Pepper, and Turmeric. Add the rice in and stir to combine.
10 - Add your lemon juice to the pot, then add enough stock to barely cover the rice. Top up with water if required.
11 - Turn the heat up to high and bring the pot to a boil. As soon as it boils cover with a tight fitting lid and turn the heat down to your second lowest setting. Allow it to steam for about 20 minutes
12 - When 20 minutes are up, remove the lid and fluff your rice up with your fork. Place the lid back on and allow it to simmer for 2 more minutes
13 - When the 2 minutes are up your rice is ready to be served.
