How To make Tofu Indonesian Style
1/4 c Smooth peanut butter
1/4 c Soy sauce
1/4 c -Water
1/2 ts Oriental sesame oil
1/2 ts Ground ginger
1 ts Rice vinegar
1 tb Brown sugar, firmly packed
2 Garlic cloves
- minced or pressed 1 tb Sesame seed
3 Green onions
-ends trimmed, thinly sliced 1 lb Regular tofu; drained
Hot cooked rice Major Grey chutney In a small bowl, stir together peanut butter, soy sauce, water, sesame oil, ginger, vinegar, and sugar until smooth. Mix in garlic, sesame seed, and onions. Spoon about 1/4 of the peanut butter mixture into an 8-inch-square pan. Cut tofu ito 4 equal slices. Lay slices side by side in pan (trim slices to fit, if needed, tucking scraps into corners). Spoon remaining sauce over tofu. If made ahead, cover and chill up to 4 hours. Bake, uncovered, in a 375 F oven until tofu is hot in center, about 25 minutes. Transfer tofu to plates with a spatula; spoon sauce onto tofu and rice. Offer chutney to add to taste. Per serving: 228 cal.; 15 g protein; 15 g fat (2.4 g sat.); 11 g carbo.; 1,115 mg sodium; 0 mg chol.

Sambal Goreng, literally translated as Fried Chilli Paste, is a popular Malay dish consisting of stir-fried tofu, tempe and long beans in a fragrant, spicy sauce.
It’s a staple Malay dish, and one of my all-time favourite. My Mom makes the best one, but she also toils in the kitchen. I'm lazier, so I experimented with the recipe that is Mom-approved.
If you want to be even more authentic and replicate my Mom's recipe, add
tamarind, belachan, a splash of coconut cream and beef chunks in the mix. You also have to deep fry every. Single. Component. Instead of just the tofu and tempe for this recipe.

Ingredients:
- 80g Tempeh
- 150g or 1 block of Firm Tofu
- 70g Green Beans/Long Beans/French Beans
- 8-9 Shrimps
- 2 tbsps Dried Chilli Paste
- 3-4 Kaffir Lime Leaves, torn (optional)
- 1 Red Chilli, sliced
- 1 tsp Salt, or to taste
- 1 tsp Sugar, or to taste
Blended Base Paste:
- 4-5 Shallots or 1 medium Onion
- 2-3 cloves of Garlic
- 1/2 inch Ginger
- 1/2 inch Galangal
- 1 Lemongrass, inner white core
- 1/4 cup Water for easier blending

Ingredients:
Beancurd / Tofu
Beansprout (blanch)
Cucumber
Peanuts (fried & ground)
15 - 20 red & green chillie padi
10 cloves garlic
2 gula melaka (palm sugar)
Sugar to taste
1 tbsp fried shallots
1/4 cup sweet soya sauce (Habhal's Cap Kipas Udang)
3 tbsp Cheong Chan caramel thick soy sauce or ABC sweet soy sauce
8 calamansi lime
(Lime juice / tamarind pulp / vinegar)
Cornstarch slurry :
1 tbsp corn flour
1/4 cup water
Method
Pound / grind chillies and garlic, sugar and fried shallots
Heat gula melaka with water, strain the gula melaka syrup
Fry chillie paste, add gula melaka syrup, sweet soy sauce, caramel thick soy sauce or ABC sweet soy sauce, lime juice (or tamarind juice / vinegar)
Add the corn flour and water mixture to thicken the sauce
Combine ground toasted peanuts to the sauce
Serve Fried Tofu with cucumber, beansprouts and peanut sauce

Bahan-bahan:
Tauhu
Taugeh
Timun
Kacang tanah (goreng & ditumbuk/di kisar)
15 - 20 cili padi merah & hijau
10 ulas bawang putih
2 buku gula melaka
Gula secukup rasa
1 sudu besar bawang merah goreng
1/4 cawan kicap manis (Habhal's Cap Kipas Udang)
3 sudu besar kicap Cheong Chan karamel pekat / Kicap manis ABC
8 limau kasturi
(Jus limau kasturi / asam jawa / cuka)
Banchuhan tepung jagung :
1 sudu besar tepung jagung
1/4 cawan air
Kaedah
Tumbuk / kisar cili padi, bawang putih, gula dan bawang goreng
Masak gula melaka dengan sedikit air dan tapis
Goreng pes cili padi tumbuk dengan sedikit minyak
Tuang air gula melaka, kicap manis, kicap pekat karamel atau kicap manis ABC, jus limau kasturi (atau jus asam jawa / cuka)
Masukkan banchuhan tepung jagung untuk memekatkan sos
Satukan kacang tanah tumbuk dengan sos kicap
Hidangkan Tauhu Goreng bersama timun, taugeh yang di celur dengan sos kacang

This tofu recipe is extremely easy to put together. Just mix the ingredients and fry them and in less than 10 minutes you have this extremely delicious tofu that you can serve as an appetizer or snacks or as a side with the main meal.
Ingredients Required For Making Fried Masala Tofu - serves 5 to 6
* 1 lb/454 gm firm/extra firm tofu. Can also use paneer instead of tofu but in that case skip the step of wrapping in paper towels and putting a weight on top, just go straight to applying the masala paste.
* 1 heaped tablespoon plain unflavored yogurt
* 2 teaspoons any curry powder. Home made Curry Powder -
* 1 teaspoon kashmiri red chilli powder(adjust proportion according to your preference). Please note that store bought curry powder already has added chilli powder so please leave out kashmiri chilli powder in that case.
* 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
* 1/4 th teaspoon garam masala powder.
Home made Garam Masala -
* little less than a teaspoon of salt or to taste
* 1/4 th/1/2 teaspoon sugar/honey/maple syrup (optional)
* 1 & 1/2 teaspoons blanched almond flour/gram flour(besan)/cornstarch(cornflour)
* 1 teaspoon oil for mixing with tofu + 1 tablespoon for frying
* chopped coriander leaves for garnish along with few drops of lemon juice(optional)
**Points to note -
* Please use a non stick pan for this recipe
* Always use firm/extra firm tofu for this recipe. If the tofu that you buy comes dipped in water, please discard that water, carefully rinse the tofu under cold tap water, wrap it with a 2 or 3 thick paper towels. Then put it on a colander with a weight on top for about half an hour to an hour.
* You can marinate the tofu for an hour to overnight if you have time on hand.
* You can even use a teaspoon of ginger garlic paste.
* Fry the tofu in a single layer and fry them in batches if your pan is small
* Do not slice tofu too thin
* Apply masala with your fingers
* Do not fry on very high heat as that will burn the masala. At the same time frying it for a long time will destroy all the flavors. As soon as they turn little golden brown take them off heat.
* Tastes best the day it is made

I am sharing one of my very favorite kinds of recipes today!
It’s so simple to make and perfect on days when you’re craving something spicy and just want to whip up something quickly.
I love serving this with rice and some stir fried vegetables, but it’s also good in sandwiches, simply as a high protein dish.
TOFU SAMBAL
Tofu Marination
10 pcs - Tofus
⅓ cup - Cornstarch
1 tsp - Salt ( as per taste )
1 tsp - Chili powder
½ tbsp - Black pepper powder
Cooking Oil ( as required )
237g /2 medium - Onion
20g / 3 stalks - Lemongrass
165g / 2 medium - Tomatoes
3 tbsp - Ginger and Garlic paste
2 tbsp - Chili powder
1 cup - Dried Chili paste
1 cup - Hot Water
2 tsp - Salt ( as per taste )
2 tbsp - Soft Brown Sugar
