How To make Tempeh Chips with Dipping Sauce
1 Block (8 oz) tempeh
(soy bean cake)* 1/2 c Hot water
1/4 c Tamari or soy sauce
2 tb Lemon or lime juice
1/2 ts Sea salt
1/2 ts Finely chopped garlic
1/2 ts Ground coriander
1 c Canola oil
Ground red chili pepper :
(to taste) Cut tempeh into 2 x 1/2 x 1/8-inch slices. In a bowl, combine hot water, 1 tablespoon each of the tamari and the lemon juice, the salt, garlic, and coriander; stir until salt is dissolved. Add tempeh; marinate for 15 minutes. In a skillet, heat oil. Fry tempeh until crisp; drain. To make dipping sauce, combine the remaining 3 tablespoons tamari, the remaining 1 tablespoon lemon juice, and the chili pepper. Makes 4 servings. *Available at health food stores. Baked Tempeh Falafels with High Protein Garlic Dip????
Recipe makes 22 falafels
Macros per falafel: 79 cals - 4g fat - 4g carbs - 5g protein
Sauce makes 5 big servings
Macros per serving of sauce: 80 cals - 6g fat - 1g carb - 6g protein
Ingredients:
2 bricks plain tempeh, chopped into chunks
1 cup canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1 cup packed fresh herbs, I used cilantro and parsley, rough chopped
4 cloves garlic
½ red onion, rough chopped
1 ½ tbsp cumin
½ tsp cayenne
¼ cup lemon juice
¼ cup olive oil
1 tbsp baking powder
2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
½ cup chickpea flour
Recipe:
Preheat oven to 425 F and line a baking tray with parchment paper
Add everything, excluding chickpea flour, to a food processor or high speed blender and blend until smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides when needed
Once smooth remove from processor and add to a mixing bowl
Fold in chickpea flour with a spatula until just incorporated
Using your hands or an ice cream scoop, form 22 falafels
Bake at 425 F for 18-20 minutes or until browned
Sauce - Blend below ingredients until super smooth:
½ brick tofu
⅔ cup almond milk
2 tbsp tahini
3 tbsp lemon juice
2-3 cloves garlic
½ tsp cumin
½ tsp salt

◾️ A block of tempeh, here I used Angie's Tempeh Organic, non-GMO Chickpea Tempeh
◾️ Tempura Flour
◾️ 1 Egg
◾️ A cup of water
◾️ Oil (I used canola oil)
Some ???????????? ???????????????? to make the best tempura!
1️⃣ Coat tempeh in tempura flour before frying
2️⃣ Check temperature of oil before it is ready to fry by dipping chopstick into batter and then test it in the oil. If the batter is bubbling, the oil is ready to fry your tempura
3️⃣ Drip the batter along your tempura piece to make it *extraa* crispy ????
