Amazing dog treat recipe! [Our dog LOVES these peanut butter and pumpkin treats]
We made these pumpkin peanut butter treats for our dog Kingsley and he LOVES them! No joke, they are his new favorite..! 10/10 will make again!
Here's the link to the original recipe:
Below is the final version of the recipe that we used. Let us know in the comments if there are any other tweaks you would recommend or if your dog loves them too! Links to additional supplies are at bottom of description.
** Make sure to use pure canned pumpkin. The additional sweeteners and spices in the canned pumpkin pie filling aren't good for dogs
Directions: 1. Combine the dry ingredients (flour, cinnamon, and salt) together. Set aside. 2. Combine the wet ingredients (pumpkin, peanut butter, egg) in larger bowl until well mixed. 3. Slowly stir dry ingredients into wet ingredients until fully incorporated.
Tip: Chill everything before this next step! About 10 to 20 minutes will do! Makes the dough less sticky and easier to work with.
4. Roll out dough to desired thickness (around1/2 inch). Make sure to flour the work surface and rolling pin as the dough will still be sticky. Lastly, the dough won't rise like normal cookie dough so roll it to the thickness you would like your cookies to be.
5. Cut out and place on a cookie sheet!
Baking: 6. Bake at 350F, for 40 minutes or until cookies have hardened.
Note: We used a 2 and 3.5 bone cookie cutter from the linked cookie cutters, and found the smaller bones took around 30 minutes and the large cookies 40.
