PHILLY CHEESESTEAK SLOPPY JOES - oooey gooey cheesy goodness!
Do you ever have something that just sticks in your mind, and you can't stop thinking about it?
I bookmarked this recipe for philly cheesesteak sloppy joes from the Dinner Then Dessert blog over two years ago, and it's been on my mind ever since.
Which is weird, because I HATED the concept of sloppy joes as a kid. I was extremely not a fan of any foods that got your hands super messy.
And while I've had philly cheesesteaks before and quite enjoyed them, growing up I wasn't particularly a bell pepper kind of person.
But for some strange reason, the idea of these cheesy, beefy, bell pepper-filled sloppy joes just sounded SO good to me.
We did some last-minute video shuffling last week, which meant that not only did I have some free space in the schedule, but I also had some ingredients that I had bought that now needed to be used.
Such as these bell peppers.
And provolone cheese.
GUESS WHAT RECIPE HAPPENS TO USE BOTH THESE THINGS.

Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes
Ingredients
1 lb lean ground beef
2 tbsp butter
1 small yellow onion, diced
1 small green bell pepper, diced
8 oz brown mushrooms, minced
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp Kosher salt
1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 cup beef broth
8 oz provolone cheese, chopped
6 brioche hamburger buns
Instructions
Add the ground beef to a large cast iron skillet (this browns very well) and brown until a deep brown crust appears before breaking the beef apart.
Stir the ground beef and brown until a deep crust appears on about 50% or so of the beef.
Remove the beef (you can leave the fat) and add the butter and the onions and bell peppers and mushrooms.
Let brown for 1-2 minutes before stirring, then let brown for another 1-2 minutes before stirring again.
Add the beef back into the pan.
In a small cup mix the beef broth and cornstarch together
Add the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, beef broth/cornstarch mixture into the pan.
Cook until the mixture is only slightly liquidy (about 75% of the mixture is above liquid), 3-5 minutes.
Turn off the heat, add in the provolone cheese.
Served on toasted brioche buns.

Goan Vodde/Odde|Beautiful Puffed Up Delights
Voddes pronounced as oddes..is slightly sweet puffed up puri which is made during celebrations like weddings etc,I remember my mom making these voddes on New Year's morning..I have carried this tradition on..The recipe is super simple and the end result is divine.
Ingredients for 20 voddes
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup rice flour
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup of melted clarified butter/ghee
1/4 cup coconut milk
Method
Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl,add half the ghee and the entire coconut milk ,a little at a time knead to a smooth,soft yet firm dough ,add the remaining ghee and knead for 5 mins,set aside for 3-4 hours ,roll out like you would puris and deep fry till they puff up and turn a light golden brown in colour..drain the excess oil

Ingredients (yields 3-4 servings)
2½ lbs Chicken
Milk to cover
2 Potatoes, cut
1 Large Onion, cut
1 Carrot, cut
2 Green Onions, cut
1 Green Chili, cut (optional)
2 Cups of Water
¼ Cup Soy Sauce
¼ Cup Gochujang
2 Tbsp Oligossacharide
3 Tbsp Red Pepper Flakes (Korean)
3 Tbsp Sugar
2 Tbsp Garlic, minced
1 tsp Ginger
1 Tbsp Fish Sauce
Black Pepper, to taste
Directions
1. Wash and place chicken in bowl of milk to eliminate bad smells. Set aside.
2. In a different bowl, add gochujang, fish sauce, garlic, soy sauce, oligossacharide, ginger, red pepper flakes, sugar, and black pepper.
3. Give the contents of the bowl a mix until well combined.
4. Drain the milk from the chicken.
5. Place a large pot on high heat. Add water, chicken, and sauce to the pot. Stir until sauce is well mixed in with the contents of the pot. Cover and cook for about 20 minutes.
6. Prep veggies: peel potatoes and carrots. Cut bigger chunks of the potatoes, carrots, and onion. Slice jalapeño or hot pepper into thin slices or mince. Roughly chop 3/4 of the green onion and mince the remaining for garnishing.
7. To the pot, add potatoes and carrots. Stir in with the contents of the pot. Cover and cook for about another 20 minutes.
8. Add onion, green onion, and hot pepper into the pot and stir in. Turn heat down to a medium-low heat. Cover and cook for about another 10 minutes.
9. Plate, garnish with green onion, and enjoy with a bowl of rice!

Ingredients:
2.5 lb red snapper
½ lb shrimp, deveined with shell on
1 large lobster tail, split up
6 Roma tomatoes
½ red bell pepper
1 medium red onion
4 cloves of garlic
5 large shallots
40 grams ginger
About 10 basil leaves
2 habaneros plus extra to drop in sauce if preferred
1 Maggi shrimp tablet or any seasoning of choice
½ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
½ teaspoon black pepper
About 4 tablespoons palm oil
