Cincinnati Chili Recipe (Chili Cheese Dogs) | I Heart Recipes
Hey y’all! If you’ve never had Cincinnati Chili, you’ve got to give it a try. Here’s my recipe for authentic Cincinnati Chili.
I lived in Ohio for just a couple of months when I was 16, and that is when I fell in love with Cincinnati Chili. Everything about it is amazing. The flavors and aroma, even the texture. I had to recreate this dish and make it my own. Watch my tutorial to see how I make my version of Cincinnati Chili.
Start by browning ground beef. You can use ground turkey, but I prefer beef. Add in a good amount of chopped onions, a little water and a can of tomato sauce, and give it a stir. I use a homemade Cincinnati Chili spice mixture as my local grocer doesn’t carry it prepackaged. My spice mixture is super simple and so good. Add this to the meat along with minced garlic and vinegar. Next add in unsweetened chocolate. You read that right, y’all! Unsweetened chocolate is a key ingredient to authentic Cincinnati chili. It gives it a rich flavor and a nice dark color. Stir until the chocolate is melted. Simmer for 2-½ hours, making sure to stir periodically so the bottom doesn’t burn. There are two popular ways to serve this chili. One way is to serve over a bed of spaghetti and the other is to spoon it over a hot dog. Whichever way you decide, top with shredded cheese and onions, and you’re good to go!

Best Restaurants for Chili Cincinnati | Cincinnati Chili Recipe | Sky Line Chili
When you're looking for a good, comforting meal, whether it's after a stressful day at the office or on a bitterly cold, wintery Ohio day, what is your go-to item? If it's chili, then you're in luck. This latest Best Restaurants (#bestrestaurants) @BestRestaurantsNearMeIn (#bestrestaurantsnearmein) #bestrestaurantsnearmeinCincinnati video covers all the best chili Cincinnati restaurants in the area.
If you're familiar with the standard Cincinnati chili recipe, the places on this list won't disappoint. Sure, they include places like Sky Line Chili (the Skyline chili recipe, Sky Line Chili, Skyline chili spaghetti, Skyline Cincinnati chili, Skyline chili ingredients, or 3-way Skyline chili) or Gold Star (Gold Star chili recipe), but also some of the lesser-known standalone or mom-and-pop chili Cincinnati restaurants like Pricehill Chili, Camp Washington Chili, Empress Chili, or Dixie Chili & Deli.
It's important to note that the Cincinnati chili restaurants on this list, even the big ones like Sky Line Chili, are not sponsored or paid placements. All of the best restaurants on this list were selected because they offer the Cincinnati chili recipe, like the Skyline chili recipe, and also based on high rankings for that particular dish.
Each of these CincinnatiChili eateries offers a little different spin on Cincinnati-style chili and serves it up differently. For example, some restaurants with the best Cincinnati chili in this video serve up Cincinnati spaghetti (Cincinnati chili spaghetti), whereas others serve up this comfort food on fries, hot dogs (as coneys), and in other ways. One thing that is fairly common among these Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio eateries is that they offer their chili served up as you like it, whether that's as a 3-way chili, 5-way chili (Cincinnati chili 5 way), or some other way. And, of course, there's nothing like that delicious heaping pile of cheddar cheese to top off your favorite chili Cincinnati. It just makes a Cincinnati chili recipe pop.
Let us know in the comments below if Sky Line Chili or one of the other big chains is your favorite Cincinnati-style chili spot or if you prefer somewhere else. And, if we didn't include your favorite chili Cincinnati spot in this Best Restaurants video, let us know in the comments below too. Use our comments section to also give us feedback about what type of cuisine and in what area you'd like us to cover next. We post new videos daily and cover areas beyond Cincinnati to include elsewhere in the U.S. and internationally.
