Potato and Ground Beef Gratin Recipe - CookingWithAlia - Episode 278
Potatoes and ground meat are usually a winner in many dinner tables - so if you combine both you get the best dish of the night: Potato and Ground Beef Gratin! We are going to make it with a Moroccan twist using Moroccan spices in the meat!
INGREDIENTS
2 pounds (1 kg) white potatoes
0.6 pound (300 grams) ground beef or lamb
1 small onion (finely chopped)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoon cumin, 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon chili pepper
1/4 finely chopped parsley and cilantro (mixed)
2 large eggs
4 tablespoons milk
4 tablespoons heavy cream
cheese (grated or sliced)
Salt, pepper, and nutmeg (to taste)

This hearty, meaty casserole comes together pretty quickly. It is a warming crowd pleaser, where you bake smooth and slightly sweet cooked potato slices together with flavored beefy meatballs and Cheddar. For a simpler approach, you can always substitute the Bechamel sauce with yogurt.

Meat and Potato Pie | Hollands Meat Pie Review
Meat and Potato Pies are quite traditional in Northern England, and especially in Lancashire. While it wouldn't pass muster with the clean/healthy eating brigade, a meat and potato pie is perfect comfort food on a cold winter evening. One legendary brand of Potato and Meat Pies is Hollands Pies. Hollands have made pies in Lancashire since 1851, and their pies are sold in chip shops and at football matches across the North of England. In this video, I do a quick taste test of a Holland's Pie, and then I make my own meat and potato pie from scratch. It's quite easy and utterly delicious.

INGREDIENTS:
1 tbsp Pork lard (or any oil you prefer)
1 pound / 450g lean ground beef
1 Onion
2 garlic cloves
1 cup / 240 ml heavy cream or milk
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp Sage
Salt, Black pepper
2 Handfuls Spinach (optional)
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
7-9 Mushrooms
4 Potatoes
4 ounces / 115g Gruyère cheese
Bake until potatoes are very tender, 60 to 75 minutes at 350 °F / 180°C
Uncover and cook until golden brown, about 10 minutes more
