The BEST Pad Krapao
Pad Kra Pao with Kai Dao (Holy Basil Stir Fry)????????????
The dish literally means stir fried holy basil. ????
You can make it in less than 30 minutes! ⏲
This dish is super delicious and packed with flavor. It is the best with a fried egg on top and served on a bed of hot jasmine rice. ????
The flavor profile is savory, salty, spicy, with subtle hints of sweetness and sweet spice from the holy basil.
Prep time: 15 min
Cook time: 15 min

Learn how to cook Thai basil fried rice with me. Also known as pad kra pao (ผัดกะเพราหมู), or even pad krapow, this is one of the most famous Thai recipes. This Thai basil recipe is made of... Thai basil, obviously, pork (pad kra pao moo), and garlic. It is served with rice and topped up (optional) with a fried egg (kai dao).
It is a very easy Thai recipe. In fact, this Thai food is the Thai dish that Thai people eat the most! You can find Pad Kra Pao everywhere in Thai street food stalls, and even in Thai homes, when Thai people don't want to cook or don't know what to cook, you can be sure that they will almost 100% of the time go for Pad Kra Pao.
In the traditional Thai recipe, steamed rice is served with Pad Kra Pao. But today, the Thai basil recipe I will show you will be a version with fried rice, mixed with pad krapow ingredients, and pork steak on the side.

???????? ABOUT ME:
Hello, I'm Nin! I upload Thai food cooking video recipes every Monday. I try as much as I can to explain things very easily and make it simple to follow for everyone. Because Thai cooking might seem scary for some, but it's actually so easy! I am by no means a Chef, but food and cooking have always been a very important part of my life. When I was a kid, my parents were owning a street food stall in Bangkok, Thailand. And right after school, I was always running there to help them cooking yummy Thai street food, and serving the customers. I have also learned a lot with my grand mum, who taught me how to cook traditional Thai food since ... well, since forever I believe! And now, I've decided to share my knowledge with you through my Thai food cooking videos! ????
On this channel, you will find a lot of authentic Thai food such as pad kra pao (Thai fried basil), khao soi (Chiang Mai noodles), khao pad (Thai fried rice), Thai curry recipes, Thai dessert recipes, and much more!
