How To make Eggless, Milkless, Butterless Cake
1 c Brown sugar
1 c Water
1 c Raisins
2 Level tbsp. drippings
1/2 ts Salt
1 1/2 c Sifted all-purpose flour
3/4 ts Soda
1/2 ts Ginger
1 ts Cinnamon
Cook together sugar, water, raisins, drippings and salt. Let cool. Sift together flour, soda, ginger and cinnamon. Stir into the cooled cooked mixture. Mix well. Bake 1 hour at 350F in a greased loaf pan. To make a delicious fruit cake add a cup of chopped dates, 1 cup mixed peel, 1/2 cup nuts or drop by teaspoonfuls on a cookie sheet and bake 15 minutes.Source: Heritage Recipes ch. -----

These SIMPLE VEGAN MARBLE CUPCAKES are super moist and easy to make. If you can't decide between VANILLA CUPCAKES or CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES, these Vanilla Chocolate Zebra Cupcakes are perfect for you.
Makes 12 cupcakes.

3/4 cup (150 g) Superfine (granulated) sugar
1 3/4 cup (245 g) All-Purpose Flour
1 tbsp (12 g) Baking Powder
1/4 tsp (2 g) Salt
1/2 cup (125 ml) Vegetable Oil
1 cup (250 ml) Water (room temperature)
1 tbsp (15 ml) Vanilla Extract
1 1/2 tbsp (10 g) Cocoa Powder
* It is very important to PREHEAT the oven. Bake when oven reaches the right temperature.
* All oven are not the same. Please adjust cooking time accordingly. If toothpick inserted in middle of cake comes out clean, cake is done.
* Mix dry ingredients and wet ingredients until JUST combined and dry flour is no longer visible. Do not overmix the batter or the cake will be dense.

Food Rationing Recipe from WW2: Canada's Eggless Milkless Butterless War Cake!! What's in it?!
We tried this eggless milkless butterless cake because we were curious what extreme rationing recipes would taste like and this one seemed as extreme as you could get! So, we'll head up north to Canada and see what was going on during WW2 in their stores and homes as they experimented in their kitchens with limited ingredients. Exactly what do you put in a cake with most of the ingredients left out!!? :)
Also, if you noticed that this video did not have a speech from the time period it's because the only sound copies of speeches of statesmen at the time were archived by the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) or British Pathe. The CBC wanted $175 for a sound bite from the Prime Minister declaring war on Germany! That's so high!!! I tried to find something else but it would've resulted in a copyright strike against my channel..... sorry Canada :( Here's the CBC's video of Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King declaring war if you would like to hear it:
What you'll need:
2 c Brown Sugar
2 c Hot Water
2 T Shortening
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp Cloves
3 c All- Purpose Flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 pkg Seedless Raisins
Boil together the sugar, water, shortening, salt and spices for 5 minutes. When cool add the flour and baking soda dissolved in 1 tsp of hot water. Divide between 2 loaf pans and bake at 325 degrees for about 45 minutes.

The specific book I used was How to Eat Well Though Rationed 1943. It was found in Part 3 of the PDF download. All of these cookbooks are a fascinating read and I highly recommend looking through them and trying some recipes.

Easy Vegan Lemon Pound Cake (Eggless, Dairy Free, No Butter)
Fluffy & Soft Vegan Lemon Pound Cake Recipe !
- Eggless, Dairy Free, No Butter
INGREDIENTS
- For The Lemon Cake
1 - 2 Lemon
1 cup 210g Soy Milk
1 tbsp Vinegar
1/2 cup Sugar
1/4 cup Soy Yogurt
1/4 cup Sunflower Oil
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
2 tbsp Lemon Juice
Lemon Zest From 1 Lemon
300g Plain Flour, Sifted
2 tsp Baking Powder
Pinch Salt
If you don’t have soy yogurt, you can try :
275g soy milk
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tbsp white vinegar
Lemon zest from one lemon
1/4 cup sunflower oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup sugar
300g plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
- For The Lemon Icing
1 cup Powdered Sugar 100g
1 tbsp + 1/2 tsp Lemon Juice
* More Lemon Zest For Garnish
* Patent Flour = Plain Flour
PREPARATION
1. Preheat oven to 350°F/180C. Grease a loaf pan, line with parchment paper.
2. Make lemon zest and lemon juice from 1 or 2 lemon (depends on the size) and set aside.
3. In a large bowl, add soy milk, vinegar and allow to sit for a minute. Add sugar, soy yogurt, oil, vanilla extract, lemon juice and zest, mix well.
4. Add flour, baking powder, salt and mix until the batter has no large pockets of flour. Do not over mix.
5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake 35-40 minutes and cool completely.
6. Combine powdered sugar and lemon juice in a bowl, mix until smooth.
7. Once the cake is cooled, drizzle glaze over the top of the cake and garnish with additional lemon zest.
