Finding natural, wholesome dog treats, that don't break the bank, is challenging.
So many treats at the store contain ingredients we've never heard of, which is worrying.
We made these healthy and natural dog biscuits that our pooches love!
I've used ingredients most of us have around, and you can easily substitute for things you do have. The ingredients we have used all serve a purpose for our dogs' health.
Apple - Apples are a great source of vitamins and carbohydrates for your dog. They can also help to keep your dogs' breath fresh.
Cheese - Adding a smelly ingredient is essential for enticing your dog and making the treats more desirable. Cheese also adds a delicious flavor for your dog.
Egg - This helps to bind the whole mixture together. It also adds extra protein to the biscuits.
Water - Other than being great for hydrating our dogs, we prefer to use water instead of a dairy alternative as our dogs' struggle to process lactose. It also helps to fill the treats out and keep the costs down without using any nasties.
You can alter the size and shape to your dog's preference, the smaller they are, the quicker they'll bake. If your dog loves a crunchier treat, keep them in an extra 5 minutes.
Let us know if you give these a try, and send a picture with your beautiful doggies!
Disclaimer:
This recipe is designed as a treat for your dog and should not be fed in place of their regular food. Treats should only make up a maximum of 10% of your dogs' daily food intake.
The treat quantity and size can be altered to suit your dog.
Please contact your veterinarian with any questions and before introducing new foods to your dogs' diet.
