Learn how to make delicious samosas with minced beef filling and a step by step guide on how to make the pockets! Perfect for your tea parties, chams, weddings, business meetings or just as a lazy-stay-in-bed snack!
What you need for the Samosa Filling
Minced beef
4 Spring onion
Garlic
1 large Onion
1 bunch of Dhania/coriander
1/2 tsp of cumin
1/2 tsp of curry powder
Black pepper (optional)
For the Samosa Pockets
All Purpose Flour 400 g
Warm water (enough to make the dough)
Salt to taste
3 tbsp of oil.
How you make it;
In a bowl, add the flour, salt, oil and water to make the dough.
Knead the dough until it becomes soft. Cover it and let it rest for 30 minutes.
As the dough rests, make the filling.
In a pan put a little oil the add the the garlic. Then add the ground beef and let it cook.
As it cooks, add the spring onions and red onion to the beef and let it cook.
Add the spices and the coriander leaves, mix everything together and let it cook.
Once everything is cooked, let it cool off.
Take the dough and roll it into log-like shape.
Slice this dough into 6 smaller pieces and roll them again into balls.
Roll each ball into a small round shape, add oil and flour then stack them together in twos.
Roll each pair into a bigger circular shape
Lightly place them in a hot pan and cook both sides until pale.
Add a small amount of flour, water and oil into a cup, stir it to make the paste you will use to seal the pockets.
Once they are all cooked, cut them into 4 quarters and separate them then fold them into triangular-shaped pockets.
Fill in the pockets with the minced meat and seal them with the paste. It should have a very light consistency.
Once you have filled the samosa pockets, deep fry them in oil until golden brown.
Remove them from the hot oil. Garnish with lemon wedges and its ready to serve.
