Vegetable Dumplings
Better than Din Tai Fung. I promise.
DON'T get too hung up on the wrapping. I know the pleats look lovely and authentic, but if it’s too much of a challenge, just skip the pleats and seal the dumpling with a flat seam. Tastes the same. So much faster to make!

Scottish beef stew and crispy dumplings recipe | Family dinners
Hi folks :)
Welcome back to what’s for tea! And I hope you’re having a great day so far!
For tea tonight I made this amazing Dundee beef stew with dumplings! Just the same as a normal beef stew with the addition of marmalade gives the stew it’s name :) Dundee being very well known for it’s fabulous marmalade, best to use bitter marmalade if you can find it…but whatever you’ve got will do :)
Very easy to make, everything gets cooked in the same pan…and it’s absolutely delicious! Cook it low and slow, and you’ll have a beautiful, melt in the mouth stew!
I’ve listed everything I used below…in case you want to give it a go for yourself.
Thanks for stopping by and until I see you next, take care x

I Used- (serves 4-5)
1 Teaspoon baking powder
1/2 Teaspoon paprika
50g (1/2 stick) Butter
225g (8oz) Diced onions
300ml (1 1/4cup) red wine
900g (2lb) Diced stewing steak
300ml (1 1/4 cup) Beef stock
100g (1 cup) Self raising flour
50g (1/2 cup) Plain/all purpose flour
3 Cloves garlic (chopped or minced)
1 Generous tablespoon marmalade (I used bitter marmalade)
50g (1/2 cup) Beef suet (if you can’t find suet, apparently cold butter works just as well :)

Salt & Pepper
Oil for frying (I used olive oil)
***I Served ours with mashed potato and broccoli :)***

Cozy Chicken & Dumplings
A classice take on an American comfort food staple.
Here is what you'll need!
COZY CHICKEN AND DUMPLINGS
Serves 6
INGREDIENTS
Soup
2 tablespoons oil
2 pounds chicken breasts
1 large onion, diced
4 carrots, sliced to ¼ in half rings
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons unsalted butter
6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
6 cups chicken broth
½ cup heavy cream
½ teaspoons dried thyme
2 bay leaves
1 ½ frozen peas
4 tablespoons fresh minced parsley
Dumplings
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 ⅓ cups heavy cream
PREPARATION
In a 6-quart dutch oven, cook chicken over medium-high heat until brown on both sides. Once chicken pieces are browned, remove and set aside.
Add carrot and onion and cook until just tender, about 3 minutes.
Add garlic and stir for another minute.
Reduce heat to medium-low and add butter and flour, stirring constantly for 3 minutes to avoid lumps.
Add chicken and any accumulated juices back to dutch oven and stir to to coat in roux/vegetable mix. Add chicken broth, cream, thyme, and bay leaves and bring to a simmer. Once soup is at a simmer, add frozen peas and cover.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and cream. Stir until mixture comes together into single mass of dough.
Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, form dough into small round balls about 1 inch in diameter (this dough mixture should yield 14-16 dumplings).
Place dough balls into simmering soup (making sure they don’t touch), and cover. Let soup simmer for 15 minutes or until dumplings are cooked (they should pass the toothpick test).
Ladle into bowl, giving 1-2 dumplings per serving.
Enjoy!
