Servings: 12 2 c Unbleached Flour
1 t Salt
3 T Lard Or Shortening
1/2 c Warm Water
Lard Or Shortening Mix flour and salt; cut in lard until particles are the size of fine crumbs. Sprinkle in water; one tablespoon at a time, until all flour is moistened and dough almost cleans the sides of the bowl. Gather dough into a ball; divide into 12 equal parts for 6-inch tortillas, 8 equal parts for 8-inch tortillas, or 6 equal parts for 10-inch tortillas. Shape each part
into a ball; brush lightly with lard. Cover and let rest 20 minutes. For each tortilla, roll 1 ball on a floured surface into 6, 8, or 10-inch circle. Heat ungreased griddle or skillet over medium-high heat unti hot. Cook tortilla until dry around edge and blsiters appear on the surface, about 2 minutes. Turn and cook the other side until dry, about 1 minute. Stack tortillas, placing waxed papper between each. Cover with damp towel. Makes 12 6-inch, 8 8-inch or 6 10-inch tortillas. -----

Make Tortillas Like a Mexican Grandma (The Easy Way)
Even a so-so corn tortilla made at home is better than the best one at your local grocery store (unless, of course, you live in Texas and have HEB!). But this video series is for the taco-eaters who won't settle for anything less than a world-class tortilla. Using hot water instead of lukewarm drastically changes the masa's texture. Finding clues for proper hydration separates the amateurs from the pros. An innate sense of how hard to press will bring everything together into a corn tortilla so perfectly pliable and resilient that you couldn't crumple it, even if you tried.

How to make Soft Flour Tortillas | Como Hacer Tortillas de Harina
Today I am making my Grandmother's soft flour tortillas. This is one of the first recipe I remember learning as a child. I have listed the measurements and tips below. Making a soft tortilla takes practice and familiarizing yourself with what the dough feels like and the texture before your roll out the tortilla. My best advice is keep on trying and don't give up. Best wishes to you all on your tortilla making journey!

How to make flour tortillas without lard recipe -
Makes 16
3 cups (384 grams) all-purpose flour
1 tsp. (6 grams) salt
1 tsp. (4 grams) baking powder
1/3 cup (80 grams) oil
1 cup (236 grams) warm water
Mix the flour, salt and baking powder in a bowl.
Add the oil and water and mix until you have a shaggy dough.
Transfer onto a floured counter top and knead for about five minutes, until the dough is no longer sticky and is elastic.
Pat down the dough into a circle on the counter and cut it into 16 equal pieces. If you want your tortillas to be the same exact size you will have to weigh each ball.
Cover the 16 balls with a damp kitchen towel and allow them to rest for a minimum of 15 minutes or up to 2 hours.
Heat a dry skillet on medium heat.
Start rolling out your tortillas with a rolling pin, on a floured counter, one at a time. Keep the balls under the damp towel as you work so that they don’t dry up.
Roll out until they are thin. Try and keep them as round as possible.
Place each rolled tortilla on the skillet and cook for a couple of minutes. Flip and finish cooking. Lower the heat if the dough is browning too much. Carefully deflate any large bubbles with your spatula so that the tortilla cooks evenly.
Place each cooked tortilla into a basket lined with a dish towel or a covered tortilla basket to keep warm. Place any left over tortillas in a sealed plastic bag.
Serve and enjoy!
