BANNOCK Bread, Drop Scone Method. On The Trail.
Another wildcamp on the rivers, campfire cooked evening meal of jacket potatoes and spice seasoned pork steak. Main content of video describes drop scone method of cooking bannock bread made from plain flour, powdered milk, sugar, baking powder, mixed fruit and nuts.
How to make campfire bread
My first attempt on making campfire bread and it's safe to say it was the best meal I ever had outdoors.
Recipe for making white bread on campfire:
White flower, approximately 1-2 dl
Sugar - 1table spoon
Baking powder - 1teaspoon
A pinch of salt
Water
Butter for the pan
Mix the dry ingredients, and then start adding water little by little. Knead the dough until it doesn’t stick to your hands (add flour if necessary). Cover your pan with butter, push the dough to the pan and cook it on embers or on an angle so the heat reaches the top part of the bread.
Eat while it’s warm with butter. Mmmm... Best food ever!

Tammy makes the best old fashioned fry bread. As a young girl growing up with her granny, this was an every other friday or so ordeal with all the left overs in the fridge. Little did she know until high school, that this bread originated from the Trail Of Tears. A Native American Bread recipe. Easy Flatbread Recipe - Quick Campfire, Camping & BBQ Bread Recipe
Hey, welcome to my Easy Flatbread Recipe video!
It uses just THREE store cupboard ingredients and taste GREAT!

Makes 4 flatbread, each about the size of a dinner plate
Ingredients:
1 mug of plain flour
Pinch salt
1-2 tbsp oil (I used olive but feel free to use a milder oil as it could be tasted in the final bread)
Warm water (cold will do) - as much as necessary to bring the mix together as a dough.
Directions:
In a bowl or large ziploc bag mix all the ingredients together until you have a dough.
Split the dough into 4 and roll each out to a thin round. I used a rolling pin but a wine bottle will also work!
Place on a hot BBQ grill, griddle pan or dry frying pan and cook until bubbles appear on the surface of the flatbread.
Turn over and cook the other side.
Keep turning back and forth until it is cooked, has nice grill lines and no longer looks at all 'doughy'.
Until next time, happy camping!
