Chipped Beef on the Griddle - My Mother-in-Law's SOS Recipe
This chipped beef on the griddle only takes a few ingredients and it's a super simple comfort food meal to make when you're craving some home cooking like Mom used to make. In fact, this is my mother-in-law's chipped beef recipe, and it brings back memories of when Amy and I first started dating in high school.
She uses packaged pepper gravy for her chipped beef, so that's what I did too. Of course, you can make your gravy for your chipped beef on toast from scratch, but the packaged kind makes this flat top grill soul food meal really easy.
Whether you call it chipped beef, creamed dried beef, or SOS (S*!t on a Shingle), this easy griddle recipe will warm the soul. And you can even make it inside on your stovetop when the weather gets cold, too. Enjoy! (And leave my mother-in-law some love in the comments so I win some brownie points!)

Chipped Beef Gravy over Toast, Aka S.O.S.
Chipped Beef Gravy and Toast (S.O.S.) is a recipes originating in our nation's military. This popular dish was prepared a bit differently depending on which branch of the military is was being served. Some used the canned beef while others used ground beef and both were mixed in a creamy gravy served over toast. This dish is perfect for breakfast but is also a great dinner especially if you like breakfast for dinner like my family. There are only a few ingredients and it comes together quick!
Chipped Beef Gravy

1 (2.25 oz.) jar of dried beef
3 Tbsp butter
1/4 cup flour
3 cups milk
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper to taste
