How To make Filet Mignon with Mushrooms
3/4 pounds firm
fresh mushrooms
3 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons flour
salt and pepper 1 cup heavy cream :
heated
6 filet (6 oz.) mignons -- thawed
6 slices french bread
6 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup scotch
Slice mushrooms and saute in 3 Tbsp butter. Add flour and salt and pepper to taste. Blend well. Stir in warm cream. Keep well-heated, in a separate skillet, while you saute the filets in hot butter for 2 1/2 minutes* per side (for rare) Saute bread slices in 6 Tbsp. butter, turning often to prevent butter from being absorbed. Arrange bread slices in a ring on well-heated platter.
Top with the filets and arrange the mushroom sauce in the center. Stir the Scotch into pan juices, boil up for a minute or two and spoon sauce over the meat. Additional sauce can be passed separately Serves 6.
*This will be extremely rare. For medium-rare interior, saute for 3 minutes per side.

Filet Mignon Steak With Porcini Mushroom Crust and Garlic Herbed Butter
Filet Mignon with a porcini mushroom crust and garlic herbed butter is a delicious skillet recipe for steak that you can quickly and easily put together in your own home kitchen for true restaurant quality results! Join Eric from Simply Elegant Home Cooking as he demonstrates this delicious recipe for a medium rare filet mignon, also known as a tenderloin steak! Be sure to buy the best steak you can find! It should be highly marbled which will result in the best possible flavor. And be sure to let the filet rest at room temperature before cooking! for the porcini mushrooms, you can buy them whole and blend them up or if you're lucky you can find in a grinder as featured in this video!
Also be sure to use Eric's recipe for garlic herbed butter which will add to the delicious flavor of your filet mignon steak!
Ingredients:
-6 ounce filet mignon (tenderloin) steak
-2 teaspoon porcini mushroom powder
-1 tablespoon cooking oil
-1 tablespoon garlic herbed butter (see recipe link above)
-salt and pepper to taste!
Directions:
-Remove steak from the fridge 30-40 minutes before cooking time.
-Blot steak dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper.
-Grind the porcini mushrooms into a powder on an even layer. Press each side of the steak into the mushroom powder and use your hands to press into both sides of the steak.
-Preheat an oven to 400 degree f and preheat a stainless or cast iron skillet to medium high heat.
-Pour the cooking oil into the skillet and swirl to coat.
-Sear each side of the filet mignon for 2 1/2 minutes.
-After searing each side, place the entire skillet with the steak into the oven for 4 minutes or until desired doneness is achieved.
-Remove skillet from oven, place steak on a plate and allow to rest for 5 minutes before cutting. While steak is resting, place the garlic herbed butter on top of the steak and allow it to melt.
-Slice the steak, serve and enjoy!

Ingredients for Filet Mignon Recipe:
►4 Tbsp unsalted butter, divided
►2 Tbsp olive oil, divided
►16 oz baby Bella mushrooms (or regular brown),
►4 (6-8 oz each) filet mignon (beef tenderloin) steaks (about 1 1/2″ thick)
►1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
►1 1/4 tsp salt (we use sea salt), divided
►1/2 tsp black pepper, divided
Filet Mignon Mushroom Wine Sauce
This is a very special filet mignon recipe, but it’s made in one pan and fairly simple to prepare. This is spectacular for any special occasion! I brought this over to my sister’s house and it got eaten fast with rave reviews across the board (despite having to reheat it because by the time I took my pictures, packed it up, drove to my sister’s…) it was still mouthwatering!
Ingredients:
4 Tbsp unsalted butter divided
2 Tbsp olive oil divided
16 oz baby bella mushrooms thickly sliced
1 small or 1/2 medium yellow onion finely diced
4 medium garlic cloves minced
1 Tbsp chopped fresh thyme or 1 tsp dry thyme if you must
4 6 oz each filet mignon steaks (about 1 1/2 thick)
1/2 cup Barefoot Merlot
1 1/2 cups low sodium beef broth
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
Salt and Pepper to taste
