How to cook Snow Fungus Papaya Dessert Soup / 银耳木瓜甜汤 (Step by Step)
Snow Fungus Papaya Dessert Soup is often served as a cold dessert in Chinese Dim Sum restaurants and it is well-liked by many Cantonese as “Tong Shui”. It’s very refreshing, especially on a hot day. Many people love to cook this dessert if they had too much deep fried food too.

Health Benefits of Snow Fungus Papaya Dessert Soup:-
- Snow/White Fungus (银耳/白木耳) though is also called poor man's bird nest / “穷人燕窝”. It has the same high collagen content with similar health and beauty benefits as bird nests which could improve skin complexion. So, why not try cooking it ourselves at home sometimes. It has anti-inflammatory and cancer-fighting properties. It contains iron, vitamin C, calcium and phosphorus. It is effective for the elderly with weak respiratory and immune system as it nourishes the lungs, heals dry cough and clears heat in the lungs.
- Papaya (木瓜) is an excellent source of Vitamin A, C and B-complex containing large amount of soluble dietary fibre which prevents constipation! It helps to improve eye health, aids in digestion, has anti-aging effect, boosts immunity, aids in weight loss, better our kidney health and cardiovascular health. It is great for diabetics too.
- Sweet Apricot Kernel (南杏) relieves heatiness, soothes coughs and dissolving phlegm while Bitter Apricot Kernels (北杏) relieves cough, asthma and unblock bowels.
- Red Date (红枣) helps to replenish and nourish our blood, thus improves the blood circulation. This can lead to better liver and digestive function, balance of inner body energy and improved immunity.

Tips: To cook this dessert, the papaya that you choose, cannot be too ripe. Best to choose a green one with a bit of yellow skin, as this will have the best firmness and texture for this dessert.
Note: It is best to consume this sweet soup within the day as it's not advisable to keep snow/white fungus overnight as the nutrients will be reduced and harmful substances will be produced overnight.
