How To make Blue Ribbon Apple Pie
: Crust: 3 c all-purpose flour
1 TB grated lemon zest
1 c salted butter,
chilled
: Ice water : Filling: 6 lg Macintosh apples, peeled, :
: thinly sliced 1 c white sugar
1 ts ground cinnamon
1/2 ts nutmeg
1/4 c cornstarch
1/4 c salted butter, chilled, --
: cut into small pieces : Egg wash: 1 lg egg, beaten
1 TB white sugar
Crust: mix flour and zest together in a medium bowl. Using pastry cutter, cut butter into flour until dough resembles coarse meal. Add ice water and mix until dough can be gathered into a ball. Divide dough in half. Flatten into disks and wrap and chill until firm. Filling: preheat oven to 400. Mix together sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch in a large bowl. Add apples to sugar mixture and toss until apples are coated. On a floured surface, roll out 1 dough disk into a circle about 12 inches in diameter. Fold dough in half, and then into quarters. Place point of folded crust in center of 9 inch pie plate and carefully unfold. Trim excess dough and leave about 1 inch overhang. Pour in apple filling and sprinkle with butter pieces. Roll out second dough disk into circle about 10 inches in diameter. Again fold in half, then in quarters and place on top of apple filling. Fold extra crust of top layer over bottom layer and crimp edges together. Cut slits in pie top to let steam escape and brush with egg wash. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar. Bake 20 minutes at 400. Reduce heat to 350 and bake another 30 minutes or

Blue Ribbon Apple Pie (Really!!)
This apple pie recipe won first place at the Michigan State Fair! Today, I made it without the crust! I guess you'd call that apple cobbler...but for a weeknight dessert, it's so much easier - and just as delicious!! Here's how I did it!

Apple Pie Topping
2 1/2 sticks butter, frozen or really cold
1 c sugar
1 1/2 c all purpose flour
1/3 c quick oats
Apple Pie Filling
5-6 granny smith apples
1 c sugar
1 T brown sugar
1 t cinnamon
Bake at 375 for 50-58 minutes or until crumble topping is golden brown. Serve with vanilla ice cream and ENJOY!!

Blue Ribbon Apple Pie
Servings - 3 - 4
INGREDIENTS
All purpose flour - 390 grams
Salt - 1 teaspoon
Sugar - 1 teaspoon
Butter - 240 grams
Water - 100 milliliters
Red apples - 470 grams
Green apples - 470 grams
Sugar - 120 grams
Brown sugar - 45 grams
Lemon zest - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
Cinnamon - 1/4 teaspoon
Apple juice - 60 milliliters
Lemon juice - 2 teaspoons
Egg white - for brushing
PREPARATION
1. In a mixing bowl, add 390 grams all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon sugar, 240 grams butter and mix it well.
2. Add 100 milliliters water and knead it into a smooth soft dough.
3. Wrap the dough in a plastic wrap and refrigerate for 3 - 4 hours.
4. Roll the dough into a thick round shape and then place it on a baking dish.
5. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
6. Take a heavy pot, add 470 grams red apples, 470 grams green apples, 120 grams sugar, 45 grams brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and mix well. Cook the apples for 10 minutes.
7. Let the apples cool down for 30 minutes and the drain them through a stainer to get the apple juice.
8. Take 60 milliliters apple juice, 2 teaspoons lemon juice and mix it well.
9. Take the baking dish from refrigerator and add the apples in it.
10. Add the apple juice on top of it.
11. Cover it with another dough circle from top.
12. Press the edges of dough together.
13. Cut slits into top of pastry.
14. Brush the top and edges of pie with egg white.
15. Preheat the oven to 410°F/210°C. Bake for 30 minutes.
16. Remove it from oven and cool for 2 hours.
17. Serve and enjoy!

Pie Crust:
3 cup (390 g) flour
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 cup (226 g) butter
2/3 cup (165 ml) milk
Filling:
6 peeled and sliced apples
1 cup (200 g) sugar
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup (33 g) flour
Bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. Reduce the oven temperature to 350 and bake another 40 minutes.
