Pad Kra Pao with Kai Dao (Holy Basil Stir Fry)????????????
The dish literally means stir fried holy basil. ????
You can make it in less than 30 minutes! ⏲
This dish is super delicious and packed with flavor. It is the best with a fried egg on top and served on a bed of hot jasmine rice. ????
The flavor profile is savory, salty, spicy, with subtle hints of sweetness and sweet spice from the holy basil.

Serves 3-4
What you’ll need:
1 lb minced meat of choice (I used pork)
14 garlic cloves (I love garlic)
12 Thai chili peppers (less if you can’t handle spice)
2 large eggs (for topping)
1 cup loosely packed holy basil or Thai basil
Seasonings:
1/2 Tbsp fish sauce
1/2 Tbsp seasoning sauce
1 Tsp dark soy sauce
1/2 Tbsp oyster sauce
1/2 Tbsp sweetener of choice (sugar, agave, honey) use less if you like less sweet.
Cooked jasmine rice (1 cup)

Thai basil beef
MARINADE
1.5 lb thinly sliced beef*
1.5 TBSP cornstarch
1 TBSP oil
*any cut of beef would work. I used NY STRIP
CONCOCTION
4 tsp soy sauce
2 tsp oyster sauce
2 tbs fish sauce
2 tsp sugar
ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS
10 cloves chopped garlic
2 red bell peppers, chopped
1 large yellow onion, sliced
2 handful basil, leaves only
1. Thinly slice your beef and then coat it with 1 TBSP oil and 1.5 TBSP cornstarch. Then sear your beef and set this aside.
2. Mix together all of your ingredients under CONCOCTION and set this aside
Once you have everything prepped, the rest is going to go by fairly quick
3. In a pan (preferably the same one you used to cook your beef) sauté your onion and garlic for 2-3 minutes or until your onions are translucent.
4. Then add your bell peppers and cook for 2 minutes.
5. Then add your cooked beef and CONCOCTION. Give this a good toss and then turn off your heat.
6. Once you’ve turned off your heat, add your thai basil leaves and toss once more.
7. Serve with rice and a sunny side up egg

Thai basil beef - How to make quick and easy pad gra prow in 30 minutes
Savory, spicy, and packed with the flavor of basil and fish sauce, that is what flashes across my mind when I think of Thai basil beef.
Thai basil beef is so versatile that it can be served as Thai basil beef noodles or Thai basil beef bowl top with a fried egg.
It is a perfect one-pot meal, as it can make it in less than 30 minutes and satisfy almost every palate.
The star of the dish is the whole bunch of fresh basil leaves thrown into the wok. You will be greeted by the aroma of basil waft up immediately to perfume the entire kitchen.

Ingredients A- to grind
8 cloves garlic
3 bird’s eye chili
3 large red chili, remove seeds
Ingredients B- Seasonings
1.5 tbsp light soy sauce
1.5 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp fish sauce
2 tsp dark soy sauce
2 tsp sugar
2 tbsp water
Ingredients C
500g ground beef
3/4 cup long bean, cut on the bias, 1cm length
I medium-size onion, cut into small dices
1.5 cup basil leaves
1 tsp cornstarch (make a slurry with 2 tbsp of water)
1 egg
Method:
Grind ingredients A with the mortar and pestle.
Heat some oil in a wok. Add the grind garlic and chili to the oil and stir fry until aromatic.
Add the minced beef to the garlic and chili. Keep stir-frying until the meat starts to cook and releases its juice. Then, remove it from the wok.
Add some oil to the wok to stir-frying the long beans and onion for a minute or two until they turn soft.
Return the beef to the wok and combine with other ingredients.
Add the seasonings (Ingredients B).
Pour the cornstarch slurry into the wok and give it a few quick stirs.
Add the basil leaves. Mix and turn off the heat.
Fry an egg with 4 tbsp of oil until the edges turn golden and with blisters.
Serve the basil beef with steamed rice or noodles, top with the egg, and garnish with more fresh basil leaves and chopped red chilies.
