1 1/2 c Short grain rice 1 1/2 c Coconut milk Place the rice in a bowl with 2 c water. Cover the bowl & soak the rice overnight. Thirty minutes to 1 hour before serving, place the rice & whatever wateris left into a medium sized pot. Stir in the coconut milk, cover tightly & cook for 20 minutes over low heat. After 10 minutes, stir once. The finished grains will have a thick, sticky consistency. Top with fruit & serve.

How to Cook Sticky Rice in a Rice Cooker
Sticky rice or glutinous rice a staple food of Laos. To cook it traditional ways you have to soak it at least 4 hours before steaming. If you don’t have that kind of time and wanted sticky rice quicker. The rice cooker method is so easy and the rice stays soft 24 hours. After it’s done cooking unplug the rice cooker. The rice gets dry and turns yellowish if it stays on warm too long. So, it’s best to cook enough just to eat or you can also microwave leftovers. It must be a year old rice only. Using new rice will get very mushy.

3 Cups old Thai glutinous rice/sweet rice 2 Cups water
The rice and water ratio is for every cup of rice use 2/3 cup of water. If you are cooking it for the first time please do a test cook with 1 cup of rice first to see if it comes out good. Different brands rice might need more or less water. If it’s too dry add 1/4 cup more or too wet then take out 1/4 cup water.
