This traditional sambar podi recipe was given to be by my mother-in-law.The sambar made with this sambar podi tastes absolutely yummy and goes very well with Rice , Idli and dosa . Once you start making this Sambar Podi at home you will absolutely love it and you will never go back to the store bought Sambar Powder. Also this Sambar Podi is free of preservatives and chemicals and is therefore good from health perspective also.

Sambar podi, or sambar powder, is a an important ingredient found in South Indian kitchens. It is prepared by roasting and grinding various types of Indian spices

Ingredients for authentic sambar powder:

Coriander seeds-1 cup
Dry red chillies-1 cup
1/3 cup-raw chena dal
1/3 cup---toordal
1 tab spoon-turmeric powder
1 tab spoon-cumin
2 tab spoons-fenugreek seeds
1 tab spoon-rice
1 tab spoon-black pepper corns
1/2 t spoon urad dal
1/2 t spoon-mustered seeds
3 springs curry leaves
Take all good quality ingredients,dry roast all one by one and make very fine Powder,it will be good for 2 months.
