How To make Beef Stew with Apple Dumplings
Ingredients

beef, stew meat, cut in 1 1/2 inch cubes
1/2
cup
flour
3
each
beef bouillon, cubes, crushed
1/2
teaspoon
pepper
2
cup
onions, sliced
2
each
garlic, cloves, minced
1/2
cup
beef broth
3/4
cup
apple juice
2
tablespoon
vinegar
1
teaspoon
thyme
1
teaspoon
curry
DUMPLINGS:
1
cup
applesauce
2
each
eggs, well beaten
2
teaspoon
parsley, fresh, chopped
2
cup
flour
2
teaspoon
baking powder
1
teaspoon
salt
Directions:
Coat meat with mixture of flour, salt and pepper. Combine meat, onion, garlic, beef broth, apple juice, vinegar, thyme and curry in removable liner. Place liner in base. Cover and cook on auto 7 hours; or high 4 to 5 hours; or low 8 to 10 hours.
Remove cover and place tablespoons of dumpling batter on top of stew. Cover and cook on high for 20 minutes.
To make dumpling batter: blend applesauce with eggs and parsley; add flour, baking powder and salt and beat into egg mixture.

2lb / 1kg Beef
½ltr / 1 pint Beef Stock / beef stock cubes can be used
½ltr / 1 pint Strong Brown Ale or Stout
2 Large Carrots
1 small turnip or swede
1 Large Leek
1 Large Onion
4 Cloves of Garlic
½ tsp Dried Thyme
¼ tsp Freshly Ground Pepper
½ tsp Salt
100g / 3½oz Plain Flour / All Purpose Flour
2 heaped tsp of Corn flour or corn starch mixed with 150g of cold water
Dumplings
300g / 10½oz Self- Raising Flour
2tsp Baking Powder (if you are using Plain or All Purpose Flour use 4 tsp of Baking Powder)
175g / 6oz of full cream or semi skimmed Milk
60g / 2oz of butter
100g / 3½oz Beef or vegetable suet
1 Large Egg
100g / 3½oz Finely Chopped Leek

1 Kilo cubed beef
Pinch of salt
Pinch of black pepper
3 tbsp flour
Pinch of black pepper
De-glaze red wine = Like me – 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar and ¼ cup pomegranate juice
2 carrots cubed
2 onions cubed
Small bunch of celery cubed
½ kilo potatoes cubed more if you like
Pinch of Thyme
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 heaped tbsp tomato puree/paste
2 ½ cups beef broth – add water if not enough!
2 bay leaves
