Mamie's Million Dollar Fudge
First lady Mamie Eisenhower’s Million Dollar Fudge gained national popularity after it was published in several newspapers throughout the country in the 1950s. Check out how to make the very same recipe!
Recipe: 4 ½ cups sugar Pinch of salt 2 tablespoons butter 1 tall can evaporated milk 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate bits 12 ounces German-sweet chocolate 1 pint marshmallow cream 2 cups nutmeats
Boil the sugar, salt, butter and evaporated milk together for six minutes.
Put chocolate bits and German chocolate, marshmallow cream and nutmeats in a bowl. Pour the boiling syrup over the ingredients. Beat until chocolate is all melted, then pour in pan. Let stand a few hours before cutting. Remember it is better the second day. Store in tin box.
Million Dollar Fudge (CC)
This Million Dollar Fudge recipe has been passed down from my grandmother (Mamaw) to her daughter-in-law, my mother. It is a recipe many people use in their own families that has been handed around many times over. Here is how my mom makes hers. I hope you enjoy all of her sweet personality. She isn't big on talking or presenting usually but has lots of useful tips while she cooks that are helpful for any home. She learned cooking and fashion in college in one of the last homemaking majors you could take. Please enjoy. My kids call her Mimi. Welcome to Mimi's Kitchen in the country aka the Ranch!
