Cuban Black Bean Soup: A Simple & Easy Recipe for Any Home Cook
Black beans, or frijoles negros in Spanish, are one of the favorite ingredients of traditional Cuban cuisine.
The tastiest way to eat these nutritious and healthy legumes is in black bean soup. How do we prepare it?
For Cuban black bean soup, fry some diced veggies (red and green pepper, onion, celery, carrot) in olive oil for 5 minutes.
Add canned black beans and broth (chicken or vegetable) to your veggies and cook for 20ish minutes on low heat. Serve with sour cream, rice, or other side dishes. Buen provecho!

Cuban Black Bean Soup is the 3rd installment of our Latin Soups and Stews series! In my arsenal of soup recipes, Cuban Black Bean Soup is one of my favorites. It's one of the first Latin soups I learned how to make early in my career. Making this soup from scratch (with dried black beans) is optimal, but I'll be the first to admit, I don't always have the time for it. So, a quicker version that doesn't sacrifice too much flavor is what I'm after. In this video, I'll show you how to maximize flavor in a short amount of time using canned black beans.
