GREEN IRISH SODA BREAD: QUICK AND EASY INSTRUCTIONS
In this video I show you how to make festive Irish soda bread that is green in color. This method and recipe is easy to do and takes only an hour from start to finish.. All you need are some inexpensive ingredients, a cast iron pan and green food dye.
Note: I added 5-10 drops of green food coloring to the buttermilk and mixed together. The less you mix in the dye to the butter milk, the more green swirls you'll have in the dough.
Note: for additional green streaks, add some more green food dye to the dough, fold 2 or 3 times just before shaping to place into the cooking pan.
Also, green food dye GETS EVERYWHERE AND STAINS EVERYTHING, including your hands or your cats hair after you pet them with green hands. Take caution.

Guinness Irish Soda Bread | Cooking with Fire | St. Patrick's Day
Hi Fusion Fam! ❤️???? Happy Recipe Friday! However, I’ll also be sharing with you a simple ????????Whiskey Orange Butter Sauce Flambé that can really transform this simple bread into something a bit more special. Get ready cause we’re playing with FIRE!!! ????

Recipe Ingredients & Measurements & Substitutions Listed Below:
Guinness Soda Bread Ingredients:
3 3/4 cups flour
1/4 cup oats, any kind you like - I’m using the quick cook kind
4 tbsp sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
4 tbsp cold butter
1/2 cup raisins – you can add anything you like (i.e. currants, nuts, cranberries, etc.)
1 bottle of Guinness OR 14 oz of buttermilk for a Non-Alcoholic Version
1 egg
1 1/2 tbsp orange zest
Irish Whiskey Orange Butter Flambé Sauce:
2 tbsp butter
4 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp orange zest
10 ml of Irish whiskey – Omit whiskey for a non-alcoholic version
2/3 cups Orange Juice
Optional Flame Garnish:
10-20 ml (up to you) of whiskey heated in either a drink glass, as shown in video, or in a small sauce pan. Whatever you’re most comfortable using.
Non-Alcoholic Version:
Replace Guinness with 14oz of buttermilk and omit whiskey from the Orange Butter Flambé Sauce. Thicken the sauce as usual over medium low heat for about 5 minutes until it reduces by half.
Notes:
* When working with fire place long hair away from face and avoid having loose clothing or flammable items near by.
** If you don’t have a gas stove you can still flambé, but instead you will need to ignite the fumes using a long lighter or long match.
*** Please drink responsibly and follow your country’s drinking minimum age guidelines.
**** Always wash your produce before using in a recipe. Sorry guys the science geek in me just has to say this even though everyone knows this already. ????

Irish Soda Bread & Whiskey Butter | BAKING WITH WHISKEY
This Irish Soda Bread is not what you think... it has Whiskey soaked raisins, extra moisture, and then a Honey Whiskey Butter that will blow your mind. And it couldn't be easier to make. Seriously, if I can do this, anyone can. This is a no yeast quick bread, and the whisky soaked raisins really are amazing- not just in the bread. Good as a snack too!!
But the star of this show is the Whiskey Butter. I don't think I can emphasize enough how delicious and easy this is. Whiskey, Honey, Butter. A little salt if you need it (I do). Damn. Just, damn.

Recipe
This is not the same soda bread that people use as a doorstop or bludgeoning weapon, I promise. It's rich, flavorful, the perfect blend of crunch and crumble on the crust with a soft inside.
4 Cups All Purpose Flour
1/3 Cup Sugar
1 Tsp Baking Soda
1 Tsp Kosher Salt
6 Tbs Butter (cold, and then diced)
1 1/2 Cup Buttercream
1/4 Cup Heavy Cream
1 Egg
1/2 Cup Raisins
1/3 Cup (or more) Irish Whiskey
Preheat oven to 375.
Whisk together dry ingredients. Using your hands, blend in cold diced butter. Set aside. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, buttercream & heavy cream. Then, form a well (or as I like to call it, volcano crater) in the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients.
Get messy- it's half the fun. Once you have a loose dough forming, move to a work surface and fold in the whiskey soaked raisins. NOTE- don't discard the whiskey you drain off from the raisins- that shit is DELICIOUS and needs to be sipped. Trust me on this one. Raisin Jameson is going to be a thing. You heard it here first.
Don't overwork the dough- it should be slightly sticky, and formed into a round mound. Score the top with a giant deep X so that the dough cooks all the way through. Place in a cast iron skillet (or on a parchment lined baking sheet) and back at 375 for 45-55 min. Remove to a baking rack to cool.
While bread is cooling, whip together Whiskey Butter (Ingredients below). Enjoy!
Whiskey Honey Butter1 stick salted butter (softened)3tbs honey1tbs Irish Whiskey
Whip all ingredients together and chill.

Irish Soda Bread Demonstration 2019
This is without a doubt the best Irish Soda Bread recipe you will ever try! I have been making soda bread for many years, and this is the only one I make today. Friends and family can never get enough!
Soak 1 cup of raisins in the whiskey of your choice, for me its any from a variety of Irish whiskey
Sift:
3 Cups Flour (All purpose white)
3 tsp Baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 Cup Sugar
using your fingers, gently rub 4 Tbsp of Lard into the dry ingredients. Don't use too much force rubbing or it will clump.
Drain the raisins and stir them into the mixture
Using a wooden spoon, mix in 1 1/2 Cups Buttermilk and 2 Eggs.
You can now add seeds to the dough if you like....
If not, spread your dough evenly into a 9x9 pan, greased. With the tip of a knife, mark an X across the top of the dough. This will release the devil from your bread (according to folklore) but will also help the inside of the middle bake evenly.
Bake 350 for an hour and enjoy a warm piece with some Kellygold Irish Butter
