Shrimp Cakes With Old Bay Lemon Aioli Sauce
Shrimp Cakes featuring Old Bay Lemon Aioli are a delicious restaurant quality dish that you can easily put together in your own home kitchen! Join Eric from Simply Elegant Home Cooking as he takes you through the process of cooking this amazing seafood recipe! There are a few tips for making shrimp cakes that will ensure a great result. First, you want to mince your shrimp very finely but do not turn them into a paste. The best way is to use a knife and work them over for several minutes. Also, be sure not to overcook the shrimp! Only a few minutes in the pan on each side is plenty to get a nice, crispy exterior.
While there are other options, Eric’s favorite dipping sauce to serve with the shrimp cakes is Old Bay Lemon Aioli. Eric demonstrated this recipe in the last video and you can see that link here:
Ingredients:
-1 pound large shrimp, preferably wild
-1/2 red bell pepper
-1/3 cup fresh Italian parsley
-1/3 cup green onions
-3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
-2 eggs
-2 tablespoons old bay lemon aioli (plus more for serving)
-3 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil for frying
-salt and pepper to taste
-lemon wedges for serving
Directions:
-Peel and devein the shrimp. Mince them as finely as you can using a sharp knife.
-Combine the shrimp, bell pepper, parsley, green onions, panko breadcrumbs, eggs, aioli, salt and pepper into a large bowl. Stir by first using a spoon and then eventually your hands until all of the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
-Form the shrimp cakes into balls. This recipe can make about 12 appetizer sized cakes or 6 larger cakes if you want to serve them on a bun.
-Preheat a large nonstick skillet on medium high heat.
-Once skillet is fully preheated, add in the oil, swirl to coat the pan, and carefully place the shrimp cakes into the pan.
-Sear the first side for about 3 minutes or until golden brown, then flip and sear the other side for about 2-3 minutes until a similar doneness is achieved.
-Serve with the old bay lemon aioli and lemon wedges and enjoy!

Shrimp Cakes l Megan Mitchell
Shrimp cakes are the new crab cakes - Megan's recipe is foolproof and so delicious! Full recipe below!

INGREDIENTS
Extra virgin olive oil for drizzling
4 green onions, roughly chopped
3 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
½ tsp red chili flakes
12 ounces raw P&D shrimp, chopped by hand
1 egg
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
3 Tbsp AP flour
Vegetable oil, for a shallow fry
1 large avocado
1 lime
Micro cilantro, for garnish
For the sauce:
1 Tbsp Sambal Oelek
3 Tbsp honey
½ Tbsp rice wine vinegar
METHOD
Bring a medium-sized skillet up to heat over medium-high heat.
Drizzle in a little EVOO and add the green onions and garlic. Sauté for 2-4 minutes until they begin to soften. Turn off the heat and add the chili flakes. Let cool slightly.
In a small food processor, blend the onion mixture with the egg to form a paste. Add the paste to the chopped shrimp. Mix to combine.
Add in the salt, pepper and flour. Stir until everything is incorporated.
In a medium-sized skillet, pour in enough vegetable oil to coat the bottom of the pan. Bring up to heat over medium.
Using a small ice cream scoop or a 1/3 measuring cup, scoop the shrimp mixture into the pan and flatten down slightly. Cook 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on a plate lined with paper towels.
While the cakes cook, make the sauce. Combine sauce ingredients in a bowl and stir. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, mash the avocado with the juice of 1 lime.
To plate, place some mashed avocado on a plate followed by 1-2 cakes. Drizzle with a little sauce and sprinkle with some micro greens. Serve hot.
